๐ฅ MEDIA FREEDOM IS NOT A PRIVILEGE, IT IS A RIGHT. ๐ฅ๐ธ๐ฟ
Last year in Mbabane, @CANGO3 through the Truth, Ethics and Liberty: Advancing Freedom of Expression in Eswatini Project, supported by the @commonwealthorg, convened the Media Consortium
As we begin a new year, the Eswatini National Commission for UNESCO reaffirms its commitment to fostering safe, inclusive, and respectful environments in our schools, workplaces, and communities. No learner, educator, or professional should ever be diminished, silenced, or excluded by bullying in any form.
Bullying is not merely unkind behaviour it inflicts harm, undermines dignity, and erodes confidence. In schools, it imposes barriers to learning and limits the potential of young people at a defining moment in their development. In workplaces, it weakens institutions, stifles innovation, and discourages the very participation that drives national progress. Across society, bullying fractures cohesion and diminishes our collective capacity to build a just, peaceful, and prosperous Eswatini.
This year, we call upon all stakeholders learners, parents, educators, employers, and leaders to take decisive action in building cultures of respect and collaboration. Let us choose to listen actively, support those affected, and challenge harmful behaviours whenever they arise. Let us also champion inclusion, dignity, and mutual understanding as essential foundations for quality education, decent work, and social cohesion.
A bullying-free Eswatini is within our reach. It begins with each of us recognizing that respect is a responsibility, kindness is a form of leadership, and silence cannot be our response to harm. Together, we can create classrooms and workplaces where every person feels valued, safe, and empowered to reach their full potential.
The Eswatini National Commission for UNESCO wishes the nation a year of impact, dignity, and partnership for goals.
