I can't imagine Chris Paul allows his career end like this: let go during his retirement tour in the wee hours of the morning. The question is: Where does he go? What team needs a 40-year-old point guard on his last legs?

The two teams that make the most sense to me are:

1. Milwaukee: CP3 was pursued by the Bucks literally just months ago before he chose the Clippers. They need more creation alongside Giannis before he starts deleting more posts.

2. Minnesota: Conley is still the best PG for the Timberwolves, which is unfortunate with Dillingham struggling. Paul would add more support next to Ant.

Who else? There's also an argument to be made for Dallas with Kyrie Irving still out, but rookie Ryan Nembhard is playing great. Taking playing time from him seems more like something Nico Harrison would do and he's gone. Maybe a return to Golden State or Phoenix, but I don't like that fit much, given how small the Warriors already are and how well the Suns are playing with the status quo. There isn't a lot out there.

All that said, CP3 himself said this to @PatMcAfeeShow this offseason before choosing a homecoming in Los Angeles:

"My son just turned 16. My daughter is 12. The past six seasons, I've lived without them. I go to San Antonio, Phoenix, Golden State—they were in Houston with me—Oklahoma City… I've been around a few teams, but I've been away from them the last six years. It's a little different. That's the conversation. I want to hoop because I love to hoop. But, at the same time, I want to be dad."

So maybe this is it if CP3 doesn't want to move his life again. And if it is, what a shame it ended this way.
