It was an honor for Sasha Ottey, Executive Director
@pcoschallenge, to serve on the WHO External Review Group for this guideline. This involvement is part of PCOS Challenge’s ongoing efforts to strengthen PCOS-related guidance and practice in ways that close gaps, elevate standards, and ensure patient-centered perspectives are integrated into care.
We recognize that some recommendations may not be fully feasible or affordable in all settings, and PCOS Challenge is committed to advancing solutions that balance evidence, access, and affordability. Looking ahead, we will continue working to ensure that future guidelines more fully reflect these principles.
Here’s wishing everyone a #HappyThanksgiving full of warmth and gratitude. We are thankful for you all.
We realize that for many people, this year and this season can be a lot to carry. Know that you are not alone and that your friends at PCOS Challenge support you.

PCOS can disrupt ovulation due to hormone imbalances, making fertility a challenge. Treatments such as lifestyle changes, medications (clomiphene, metformin, oral contraceptives), and guidance from reproductive endocrinologists can improve ovulation and pregnancy chances.

PCOS can affect ovulation, making conception more challenging. Medications like letrozole can improve ovulation in up to 35% of cases, with pregnancy rates ranging from 32-39% (Franik et al., 2022). Monitoring cycles and discussing fertility options with a provider can help determine the most effective path toward achieving pregnancy.

Irregular periods are a key symptom of #PCOS and can occur when cycles are shorter than 21 days, longer than 35 days, or absent for several months. PCOS causes hormonal imbalances that can disrupt ovulation, leading to inconsistent cycles in some people. If irregular periods persist, it’s important to consult a healthcare provider. Early detection can help guide appropriate care.
