The weight companies like the big banks and BHP have in the cap weighted index is often posed as a problem. So is there a better solution? Yes, in theory... equal weight.

Wondering how markets fared in the 1970's with the oil shock and inflation? We take a look at the ASX, the S&P 500, then size, value and profitability, plus fixed interest.

What saw the largest drawdown and did anything beat inflation to hide? Video below 👇

We've had many requests to look at a geared portfolio akin to Betashares GHHF.

With so many variables we did the simple thing, 1.5x a very similar asset allocation. How did that turn out?

When Lee Corso announced his retirement from College Game Day his statement talked about how fortunate he was to have an almost 40 year run on the program.

When the season started, reality hit: "I can’t get used to it. I’m not working anymore."

Excited by a new ETF?
Do you really need it?
Does it fit in your portfolio?
Is there actually a fee or tax saving?
A few questions to ask when there's 4 or 5 new ETFs hitting the market nearly every month.

Aside from Avantis, how many will be long for the ASX?

These are obviously fun comparisons to do, and no doubt they'll get some engagement from readers, but at a glance, for stocks it's using price return and then doesn't consider the currency for Australian investors. @keanemoney

Gold's been hot lately with people lining up to buy in the streets of Sydney, but while it can be great in short periods, long term you need a little more patience.

What's the correlation like with the S&P 500? How volatile is it? Maybe more than you'd think
