I was horrified to learn that in the 1950's samesex attracted people were told they were criminals and then pumped full of body altering chemicals. Thankfully nowadays, these people are told they are trans, and then pumped full of body altering chemicals. We've come so far.

So it’s OK for a coordinator to tell women “fuck you” & “fuck off” but to suggest that an apology might be in order or ask why that coordinator is still a WRN member results in 3 members being expelled last night? “Rules for thee but not for me.”@WomensRightsNet @HeatherB_WRN

This could all have been avoided with some consideration of the grassroots women who make up your movement. Sadly can’t tag WRN NI as they have chosen a policy of ‘no debate.’ Wonder where they got that from 🤔

A founder was pushed out, coordinator told women to fuck off, working groups that women were active and invested in shut down over night without warning, letters seeking a meeting to try to find way forward ignored. What happened in Scotland, Bucks etc has now happened in NI.

If only WRN adhered to its own guidelines. Section 6.3: “Members must not engage in any aggressive or bullying behaviour.”

Telling women to fuck off seems fairly aggressive to me. It also brings WRN into public disrepute - sections 8.2 and 8.4.

@modonnellDL It’s a very sad situation that could have been avoided. 15 women asked for a meeting to resolve a number of serious issues - including bullying - and were ignored. But we will all continue to fight for women’s rights in our own ways, that’s the main thing.

WRN NI has imploded, and it was all so avoidable. Tonight women have been expelled from WRN NI because they dared to ask questions. Because they sought a solution to issues that the coordinators didn’t want to address…

WRN NI will continue its work. And the women who are no longer in it - the founder who was pushed out, the two who left in solidarity with her and the three (and counting?) who were expelled tonight - will continue to fight for women’s rights. May we all succeed.

To those of our opponents rubbing their hands in glee at this news - don’t. This isn’t the end of the women’s movement in NI. It’s the start of a revolution.
