Post Cocoon Technology project was dedicated in two blocks of Mokokchung district - Chungtia & Sabangya. This project which encompasses skill training to 400 women will create post cocoon linkages from spinning, reeling, weaving to finished silk products with marketing support.
Project for Development of Bivoltine Sericulture launched in Wokha district of Nagaland is aimed at creating sustainable livelihood for women & encouraging pre-cocoon & post-yarn activities. Production of quality bivoltine silk will also help in reducing its import.
Soil to Silk project aims to develop Eri-culture in Udalguri district through 100 acres of new Eri plantation & rejuvenation of existing 600 acres plantation. The project once completed will generate employment for over 7000 people annually.
Foundation stone was laid for Eri Spun Silk Mill in Bodoland Territorial Council. The mill will provide employment to nearly 1500 farmers through backward linkage and over 700 weavers through forward linkage.
Understanding the potential of dual purpose of Tapioca plantation, Eri Silk Development for Sustainable Livelihood to Women through Tapioca was launched in Kokrajhar. It will benefit 1400 people & result in 45 MT of Eri Spun Silk, 200 MT of Eri Pupae & 5000 MT of Tapioca tuber.
