Think about this:
- A top NY Corporate Lawyer charges $2800/hr.
- A top NY metro area general surgeon makes $173/hr
Society wants to cut the salary or the surgeon because they make too much money.
@dermatophyte@Riley_Gaines_@DrOzCMS That is an excellent idea! I think I’ll have some Thank You, Dr OZ cards preprinted for my patients to send who have to come back another day for their biopsy or freezing. Especially those who have to drive an hour or more each way. Also their fam members who take time off work
@rmhoffmanauthor@BrentAWilliams2 And it pays like crap. Medicare pays slightly more, like $80 at most. Same principle applies. I cannot afford to cut in half what I am already underpaid for.
@tristonsmithmd@urologythoughts@anish_koka We have posted QR codes in our waiting rooms and exam rooms with easy to follow petitions for our patients. We will not let up. This is a battle for the very survival of the solo practitioner. Even if it goes through I will have Thank You cards preprinted to send to OZ
@tristonsmithmd@urologythoughts@anish_koka If you want to see an example of organization, check out the American Academy of Dermatology website. We have been having national zoom meetings since this 💩 was announced. We have gone to DC and spoken to our reps and senators. Our leaders have been in contact w other societies
@tristonsmithmd@urologythoughts@anish_koka I’m sure there are docs who commit fraud. But when I have played by the rules my entire career this seems a bit like taking everyone’s guns away because some people use them in criminal activities. Punishing all patients and the 95% of rule following docs is not OK.
@tristonsmithmd@urologythoughts@anish_koka Then CMS needs to get off their butts and use AI to audit and fine the fraudsters. And their leader OZ needs to either understand or not misrepresent what the -25 modifier actually already does. But it’s way easier and lazier to disrupt every office based derm with one stroke.
@drdustinportela Not just consolidation—extinction. PE and mergers now only want multi-location, multi-physician practices with lots of mid levels. The solo MD is now a dinosaur.
@HEALTHCOSTtruth I plan to tell them exactly how little CMSpays me for spending 15-30 minutes on their 5-10 problems in their office visit. And how Dr Oz wants to slash that by half if I dare to do a procedure to correct any other problem they might have, in accordance with the -25 mod rules
This is for my “older docs”. Carnac trying to predict what condition the patient has when they schedule the appointment. This way he can just do the procedure and not have to examine, diagnose and formulate a treatment plan with Dr Oz proposed Medicare planned payment ban on same day exam and treatment.
@jonfavs@JohnJHarwood Uh, neither you nor your children HAVE to watch if you don’t want to. But if these Muslim terrorists take over, your children may well be forced to watch your murder.
@DesireeAmerica4 Thank you, I will say what I want. Clearly money and generosity can’t buy self acceptance nor good judgement when it comes to “improving “ one’s appearance.
@JoshChambers Wish I could retire, Nick . Too bad Medicare screws me harder every year. And now Dr OZ wants to decrease my pay by 25% next year—67 year old independent MD
@Riley_Gaines_@DrOzCMS I’m sorry, Riley, but you have no idea what you are talking about. I support your standing up for women’s sports, but please stay in your lane. This type of uninformed post makes you look like a grifter. And you’re not a grifter, are you?
@rmhoffmanauthor@BrentAWilliams2 Medicare pay was “decent “ before 2020 but has not gone up. What has gone up? My supply costs 2-4x My EMR/computer costs (mandated by CMS) up 20% I pay my staff’s insurance in full and have given them COL raises, while I have not had a raise. I guess ethical practice = poorly run
