Met @web3machin at @SuiNetwork Builders event yesterday and we ended up talking about gas fees 😭
I approached her and asked what was wrong, and she told me she was frustrated due to a $10 charge for a swap of $120 on ETH network
You could really tell it had already affected her mood before we even got deep into the conversation
We ended up talking more about it and how often situations like that keep happening in DeFi without much warning or clarity upfront
It’s one of those things people experience repeatedly, but still find annoying every single time it happens
I just listened more than anything because it honestly made sense why she felt that way in that moment
At some point I mentioned @Ask_ORO during the conversation and pitched it a bit, and she said she loved the idea
I also showed her the vaults on ORO
It honestly made me realize how long it’s been since I last had to deal with something like that in the same way, and that sense of ease stood out more than I expected
At the same time, it raised a few questions in my head like:
▪ why does a single swap cost that much relative to the amount
▪ why does the experience feel so unpredictable for users doing simple actions
▪ and how many people are just accepting this as normal without questioning it
I don’t think I have clear answers to all of these yet, but it’s one of those conversations that stays in your head longer than expected
