do people still watch full vlogs?
spent last week navigating the chaos of hong kong and the @consensus_hk floor.
panels, pudgy penguins, and the best skyline in the world.
I can't emphasize this enough:
get out, get into nature, do something that stimulates you outside of sitting at a screen for 10-12 hours a day.
your body needs it, as does your mind.
most likely explained by the fact that korea is more recently developed than tw or jp, this shows in the architecture, the cities and society at large. trends here are extremely fleeting; here one day and gone the next. a lot of things are geared towards convenience and efficiency, and maybe that strips away some of the ‘charm’ you might associate with other Asian megacities.
still a lovely place though and one of the reasons I chose to call it home, the more integrated you become the more you realise how layered society actually is.
depends where you're staying, best spots for going out generally I'd say are euljiro/yongsan/noksapyeong/maybe hapjeong for cafes
here's a list of my favourite kbbq spots (mostly beef, 삼겹살 is quite common. also these are chains so might be able to find them in other neighbourhoods):
- 우대포 양재점
서울 서초구 강남대로47길 20 1층
https://t.co/cMZozhyJDD
- 도야집 용산본점
서울 용산구 한강대로52길 27 1층

- 남영동양문 을지로점
서울 중구 수표로 43 1층 남영동양문 을지로점

but yeah if you can navigate Naver and search for '고깃집' you can check the review rating and go on that.
bars (like cafes) are a dime-a-dozen but my go-to lately has been this spot in itaewon – think 90s hip-hop + good cocktail selection:
- 원사이즈
서울 용산구 이태원로 200 지하1층

I went on a date in Seoul and I think I just got dumped over my asset allocation.
She asked what I invest in. I said index funds, some ETFs, nothing wild. She put her chopsticks down and said “so you have no convictions”.
then asked if I’ve ever held a position through a 60% drawdown. I said no. She said “then you’ve never loved anything”.
bro I came here for bibimbap not a TED talk
