🇪🇪🇱🇻🇱🇹 The Baltic Cup returns this week for its 30th edition, with the Faroe Islands once again taking part as a guest nation.

The competition was created in 1928 after Estonia repeatedly declared themselves the best footballing nation in the Baltics, leading to the creation of a tournament to settle the debate.

Nearly a century later, it remains the oldest active international football tournament in the world. Only the Home Nations Championship is older, although that competition is no longer played.

Poland and Finland were originally invited to participate. Poland have never taken part, while Finland did not make their debut until 2012.

Latvia are the most successful nation with 13 titles, while Estonia enter as reigning champions after ending an 83-year wait for the trophy in 2024.

🇧🇹 Bhutan is the only country in world football where a youth category of the national team setup is currently in first place in the top domestic league.

BFF Academy U19s, elite youth development squad of the Bhutan Football Federation, have never won the Premier League before but have made an unbeaten start to the current campaign.

🇭🇺 Incredible story developing in Hungary.

Győri ETO (Milos Kerkez’s former club) are now just three games away from winning the Hungarian league title.

They could end Ferencváros’ 7-year run of winning the league.

Ten years ago Győri ETO were relegated to Hungary’s third division due to financial problems.

It took them a long time but they earned promotion back to the top flight and have built an exciting young team playing great pressing and attacking football.

Earlier this season they were just one game away from the Europa Conference League.

A fantastic rise back to the top 🔝

They have a great academy (played a key role in Milos Kerkez’s and Ármin Pécsi’s development) and a good structure in place, with solid recruitment.

An example for many clubs in Hungary.

🇨🇦 There’s a game in Canada today with a Spanish connection!

FC Supra du Québec, whose recruitment model is inspired by Athletic Bilbao, will take on Atlético Ottawa, who were founded by Atlético Madrid.

It will be FC Supra’s first-ever home game in the Canadian Premier League.

🇪🇸 Athletic Club have NEVER been relegated from La Liga. This is despite having the policy to only sign players with a Basque origin (Around 2.2 million people). They’ve managed to win eight La Liga titles and twenty four Copa del Reys!
