By Sincerely, American:
"Trump supporters say, 'We suffered 8 years under Barack Obama.'
Fair enough. Let’s take a look.
The day Obama took office, the Dow closed at 7,949 points. Eight years later, the Dow had almost tripled.
General Motors and Chrysler were on the brink of bankruptcy, with Ford not far behind, and their failure, along with their supply chains, would have meant the loss of millions of jobs. Obama pushed through a controversial, $80 billion bailout to save the car industry. The U.S. car industry survived, started making money again, and the entire $80 billion was paid back, with interest.
While we remain vulnerable to lone-wolf attacks, no foreign terrorist organization has successfully executed a mass attack here since 9/11.
Obama ordered the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden.
He drew down the number of troops from 180,000 in Iraq and Afghanistan to just 15,000, and increased funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
He launched a program called Opening Doors which, since 2010, has led to a 47 percent decline in the number of homeless veterans. He set a record 73 straight months of private-sector job growth.
Due to Obama’s regulatory policies, greenhouse gas emissions decreased by 12%, production of renewable energy more than doubled, and our dependence on foreign oil was cut in half.
He signed The Lilly Ledbetter Act, making it easier for women to sue employers for unequal pay.
His Omnibus Public Lands Management Act designated more than 2 million acres as wilderness, creating thousands of miles of trails and protecting over 1,000 miles of rivers.
He reduced the federal deficit from 9.8 percent of GDP in 2009 to 3.2 percent in 2016.
For all the inadequacies of the Affordable Care Act, we seem to have forgotten that, before the ACA, you could be denied coverage for a pre-existing condition and kids could not stay on their parents’ policies up to age 26.
Obama approved a $14.5 billion system to rebuild the levees in New Orleans.
All this, even as our own Mitch McConnell famously asserted that his singular mission would be to block anything President Obama tried to do.
While Obama failed on his campaign pledge to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay, that prison’s population decreased from 242 to around 50.
He expanded funding for embryonic stem cell research, supporting ground breaking advancement in areas like spinal injury treatment and cancer.
Credit card companies can no longer charge hidden fees or raise interest rates without advance notice.
Most years, Obama threw a 4th of July party for military families. He held babies, played games with children, served barbecue, and led the singing of “Happy Birthday” to his daughter Malia, who was born on July 4.
Welfare spending is down: for every 100 poor families, just 24 receive cash assistance, compared with 64 in 1996.
Obama comforted families and communities following more than a dozen mass shootings. After Sandy Hook, he said, “The majority of those who died today were children, beautiful little kids between the ages of 5 and 10 years old.”
Yet, he never took away anyone’s guns........
He sang Amazing Grace, spontaneously, at the altar.
He was the first president since Eisenhower to serve two terms without personal or political scandal.
He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
President Obama was not perfect, as no man and no president is, and you can certainly disagree with his political ideologies. But to say we suffered?
If that’s the argument, if this is how we suffered for 8 years under Barack Obama, I have one wish: May we be so fortunate as to suffer 8 more."
The fact that the Epstein Estate ACTUALLY PAID a settlement to one of the women who alleged that Donald Trump raped her as a minor, and it was paid AFTER Epstein died, as told under oath by Epstein's longtime accountant, should be a more significant story. The fact that Trump said he wasn't ever on Epstein's plane and now we found out he was, should be a more significant story. The fact that senior officials gathered in the Situation Room to concoct and coordinate an Epstein coverup IS a significant story, and being treated as such, but in light of all the rest and his behavior throughout, it should be the end of his presidency.
Sen. @brianschatz: If this deal is so good, why can't the public see it? Donald Trump hasn't made anything materially better. 13 service members dead. 3,000 Iranians killed, billions of dollars, maybe hundreds of billions of dollars in 3 months, and prices spiked everywhere. There is a reason they are not publishing this deal and it's because it makes plain that this is one of the biggest foreign policy blunders in many generations.
The minimum wage should be set at a level that, if you work 40 hours per week, you can afford housing, healthcare, and groceries, no matter the job you are doing. And that is not a radical belief.
In 2020, Trump allegedly took classified docs to Mar-A-Lago, including ones that were so classified only 6 people had seen them.
There’s an entire report on this scandal. But a judge has been keeping it hidden for years.
We’re fighting for its release.

- 745k are homeless in the US
- medical bills are the #1 cause of bankruptcy
- over 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck
- bottom 80% of Americans have just 7% of the wealth
Yet this criminal is now a trillionaire. We’re a failed country.
Taxpayers paid for over $38 billion in subsidies and government contracts for Space X, and Elon Musk gets to be a trillionaire off of our tax dollars.

.@JamesTalarico: There's been a lot of talk in this race about what it means to be a real man.
Recently on the campaign trail I told the story of my adoptive dad, Mark Talarico. Every Saturday morning, he would mow our lawn, and then without anyone asking him to, he would go next door and mow our neighbor's lawn because she was a widow. My dad never talked about it — he just did it, because that's what a man does.
A man takes responsibility, upholds his commitments to his family and his neighbors, and does what's right, even when no one is watching.
Here's what real men don't do. They don't lie and cheat their way through life, sell their soul to the highest bidder, or steal from other people in order to enrich themselves. Real men serve others. Weak men serve themselves.
I welcome this debate about what it means to be a man, and I don't think Ken Paxton or Ted Cruz are in a position to tell anybody what a real man is.
After an Indian company invested in Donald Trump Jr’s latest venture, they got all sorts of special government privileges, including a license to buy Venezuelan oil. Doesn’t that seem suspicious?
Trump’s endless corruption is enriching himself & his family while Americans are struggling to get by.
Republicans have named this week in Congress “Fraud Week.”
So this week, I’ll break down some of the worst fraud the Trump admin has committed.
Today, I’m starting with the pardons Trump has given to blatant criminals who have stolen and cheated the American people.
Candidate Trump: "I will end inflation on Day One."
President Trump today: "I love the inflation."
You know who doesn't love inflation, Mr. President? Working families struggling to afford gas, groceries and other necessities because of your disastrous actions.
BREAKING: In a stunning moment, Donald Trump's former economic advisor just admitted on Fox News that inflation is being driven nearly exclusively by bad decisions that Donald Trump has made. Wow.
AOC on Medicare Advantage: In theory, agents and brokers work with everyday people enrolling in a plan and are there to help them pick the best plan for their health, right?
That’s how it’s supposed to be set up.
What gets complicated is that agents and brokers are paid by health insurers for enrolling individuals in specific plans.
And so you’re supposed to have agents and brokers talking to your mom or your grandparent, saying, “We’d like to enroll you. We think this plan is what’s best for you.”
But what that person doesn’t know is that UnitedHealthcare is saying, “We’ll give you a vacation if you enroll people in our plan,” or, “We’ll give you a couple of extra hundred dollars if you enroll someone in a Blue Cross Blue Shield plan, a United plan, or any number of other plans.”
And in your testimony, you stated that agents and brokers received $10 billion in this kind of compensation in 2022 alone, right?
That’s $10 billion in taxpayer money. A lot of it is being funneled through these corporations. And so that is money that is not going to care. It’s going to perks, trips to Boca, and financial incentives for brokers to enroll people out of traditional Medicare and into for-profit Medicare Advantage plans.
If your bank forced you to legally put a certain amount of your paycheck every payday for 30 years into a savings account for your "retirement," didn't give you interest, then when you were getting ready to retire, said "we're only going to give you 70% of your money back, because we can't afford to pay you the full amount."
Would you accept that?
Vote every Republican out.
BREAKING: We're suing the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service over their plan to give away 715 acres of a public wildlife refuge to billionaire corporation Space X.
Americans shouldn't be sacrificing their public lands to subsidize a company owned by the richest man in the world.
