For those who try to tell us that our churches just need to feed/help the poor, remember this:
There was one critical job when the Titanic hit the iceberg--to get people on the lifeboats. Everything else paled in comparison to seeing them saved from the sinking ship! #themission
@kevinforderphi1 @RevAdamHamilton When you send me a link about how you think hell doesn't exist, it throws out 1) scripture, 2) tradition, 3) reason and 4) experience.
For God to be good, hell must exist. Scripture plainly says it does, as does tradition, reason and experience.
@wadelentz God bless this man. The #UMC need look no further as to why the church is growing overseas (including Liberia, where this gentleman is from) and in a freefall in the US. All has to do with how they view the Bible. It's either God's word or not.
#UMCGC said it's not.
@JamesBr41077471 God bless you and your mom, James. I've heard countless similar stories. Heartbreaking. I know many who have moved on and found good Bible-believing churches that they wished they'd found years earlier. I know the same will happen for you all. Go serve the King.
@michaelaterndru Michael, pretend you meet a person on the street who has just been in an accident. They have 2 minutes to live. They ask you how to go to heaven.
What do you tell them?
@UMC_CommonSense@starlinksy This is completely wrong.
The reason Christians warn of hell is so others can avoid it.
If I wanted someone to go to hell, I'd affirm what leads them there. The most loving thing people can do for another is to encourage them to repent, point them to Christ.
@UMC_CommonSense @Lord_Patriarch @BenMoonmace "Depart from me, I never knew you" was directed at people who 1) had not repented, since they were called "workers of iniquity" and 2) were trusting in their good deeds.
If you consider yourself a good person, that shows where your trust is.
Repent. Trust Christ alone.
@nwteacher6 @joshtmcc When children are born, one of the first words they say is "Mine!" They also somehow know to lie. Parents don't teach that. It's natural. Just gets worse from there.
We're all born with a natural inclination to rebel against God. It's why Jesus said you must be born again.
@cabbageguy God bless you, Thom. I'd flee. Start an independent Methodist church. All former UMCers I've heard from are attending Bible-believing churches, being edified, taught the truth each week and say they wish they'd left sooner.
@UMNS You have traded God's truth for a lie.
And I say that not out of hate, but out of love.
Precious souls are being led straight to hell.
But today can be the day of salvation.
Repent. Admit you've broken God's laws. That you deserve his judgment. Put your trust in Christ alone.
