If this is not extortion, then I don't know what to call it.

Yesterday I went to Modibbo Adama University, Yola Adamawa State to process a transcript which was ₦30,000.

However, when I went to pay, the cashier told me I'll pay ₦31,500.

When I asked what the extra ₦1,500 was for, he said bank charges and remita charges, I didn't argue, I paid.

Surprisingly, when they gave me my payment receipt, what I saw was ₦30,161.25.

That means ₦30,000 for the transcript fee, ₦150 for the standard Remita charges plus 11.25 VAT on remita charge.

So I'm wondering, where the remaining ₦1,338 went to?

Besides, I've never seen where they ask you to pay bank charges inside a bank.

Corruption have so eaten deep down into the system of the common Nigerian, but it's well 😥😥
