The 1975 Lumberton UFO Wave, a series of sightings that occurred across southeastern North Carolina between April 3–9, 1975. The event began around 1:45 a.m. on April 3, when three Lumberton police officers noticed a strange light near a water tower behind Lumberton High School. As they and other officers tracked it, witnesses from different locations began reporting the same object: a large silent V-shaped or triangular craft lined with red and red-green lights, often carrying one or more bright white spotlights directed toward the ground. Over the next several nights, sightings spread across seven counties, with more than 30 law enforcement officers and numerous civilians reporting the object. Witnesses consistently described it as completely silent, capable of hovering, making sudden maneuvers, and appearing at relatively low altitudes. The wave attracted national media attention and UFO investigators, including journalist Lee Speigel, who traveled to North Carolina expecting to find a conventional explanation but later reported witnessing the object himself. Despite investigations and extensive witness testimony, no definitive explanation was found, and the Lumberton wave remains one of the most notable police witness UFO cases in North Carolina History

Between 1982 and 1989, southeastern New York and western Connecticut experienced a wave of UFO sightings involving massive, triangular or boomerang shaped craft, often described as football field in size, silent, and covered in multi colored lights. These incidents frequently halted traffic on major highways as stunned drivers stopped to watch
December 31, 1982 – Kent Cliffs, NY: Multiple witnesses observed a silent, football-field-sized craft with colored lights drifting overhead. Traffic on Interstate 84 stopped as drivers left their vehicles to watch
•February 26, 1983 – Lake Carmel/Brewster/Kent Cliffs, NY: At least 15 witnesses, including Monique O’Driscoll, reported a boomerang-shaped craft about 200 feet across with blue, red, green, and amber lights. It passed only 100 feet above O’Driscoll’s car, revealing a solid underbelly with beams and tubular structures (Philadelphia Enquirer, Sept. 28, 1984)
March 17, 1983 – Brewster, NY: Witnesses, including resident Dennis Sant, described a boomerang-shaped craft 300 feet wide with rows of blue, red, white, and yellow lights. The object hovered 150 feet above Sant’s home, displaying large metallic beams and a brilliant amber light on its underside
March 24, 1983 – Westchester County, NY: Several thousand people across towns from Millwood to Yorktown Heights witnessed the craft between 8:00–10:00 p.m. Described as football-field sized, it hovered over highways and neighborhoods, at times projecting a powerful white beam of light. Police officers from multiple towns also became direct witnesses
