@AkiAndFam One creator did not kill the game. Heck most people who played probably have no idea who the guy is. If Marathon was truly a great game, it would have succeeded, but it didn’t. I say that as someone who really enjoyed my time with it.
@Gaming_bo3gg Honestly not a terrible idea stop living in the past and make something truly new. I like the idea but I have my doubts they will be able to deliver.
@Bamslol I was pretty sad when the game shut down but after a month or so I moved on. I honestly don’t know if I’ll come back to D2 permanently. I might play through campaigns again and then dip. I think until D3 comes along I’m just not that interested. So long story short not really.
@UziCryptoo Or hear me out, and this is kinda a crazy thought so try to stick with me, use your PTO however the fuck you want and don’t let people on the internet tell you oh how you should spend your free time.
Can we retire the “roller = cheating” narrative already?
MnK has the higher skill ceiling for raw aim. Full stop. Controlling a mouse with your wrist, arm, and fingertips at a high level is mechanically more demanding than controlling a thumbstick. I’m not pretending otherwise.
But having a higher raw aim ceiling does not mean the other input requires zero skill. Aim assist is a system designed to compensate for the limitations of a thumbstick; it can help with tracking an enemy, but it does not position you, choose your engagements, move your character, manage your resources, or finish the fight for you. You still have to find the target, react to movement, control recoil, stay on target, and convert damage into a kill.
And “not missing” is a much bigger ask in Apex than people give it credit for. The current R 99 does 12 body shot damage, and Respawn specifically said its Season 30 damage reduction was intended to keep it as a fast close-range weapon while requiring more precision to secure knocks. Apex gives players substantial health and shields to burn through, so consistently landing shots still matters enormously. Missing shots has real consequences; this isn't a game where accuracy is irrelevant just because aim assist exists.
That also doesn't mean removing aim assist would automatically “fix” balance. It would fundamentally change controller gameplay rather than simply making both inputs equivalent. Respawn itself has said aim assist is a critical accessibility feature and that it will not be removed, while still reducing its strength in PC environments because their data showed an imbalance in encounter win rates.
And the “just compare Apex to Siege” argument doesn't prove much either. Different games have different TTKs, movement systems, recoil patterns, weapon designs, and aim-assist implementations. You can't take the balance of one game's input system and use it as proof for another game's.
Respawn has also repeatedly adjusted aim assist rather than treating it as untouchable. The major Shockwave adjustment reduced aim assist by 25% for controllers on PC and by 18% for console players entering PC lobbies, while console only lobbies were unaffected.
So no, I'm not saying controller is more skilled than MnK. It isn't. MnK has the higher raw aiming ceiling.
I'm saying controller is not “skill less,” and having aim assist does not automatically make someone a cheater. MnK and controller are different input methods with different strengths, weaknesses, and skill ceilings. You can believe MnK is harder to master without pretending every good controller player is letting the game play for them. Again im not bias im just speaking the truth i play mnk still and when i was always on mnk ive never once complained about aim assist Because I understand and always understood the importancy of it in this game.
