A young man named Simon Kato says he in 2015 lent a woman Shs4.8m. When he later asked her to repay it, she invited him to her house to collect the money.
When he arrived, she asked him to wait while she went to fetch it from her bedroom. She returned with her clothes torn, her breasts exposed, and raised an alarm, screaming that he had tried to kill her.
Simon was arrested, charged with attempted murder, and remanded. Witnesses were staged against him. He was tried, convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison.
He served 10 years and 6 months in Nakasongola Prison. When he was finally released, he found that both his parents had died, his familyโs former home in Lubigi had been demolished by NEMA, and the woman who had falsely accused him had sold her property and disappeared.
Uganda is a deeply wicked society, from ordinary individuals to institutions.
How do people live with themselves after this kind of cruelty? How do they sleep at night?
A glimpse from my recent address to a congregation of Indian association and industrialists in Jinja and from across Uganda we were gathered to felicitate me and Hon Sanjay Tanna.
On every platform where I engage the Bayindi community, I continue to advocate for stronger relationships with our host communities, built on mutual respect, harmony, and shared prosperity. I also encourage our community to see Uganda as home to reinvest here, create opportunities, and contribute to the countryโs continued growth and development.
I will continue championing a Bayindi community that lives amicably with fellow Ugandans, gives back to the communities that have embraced us, and plays an active role in building a stronger Uganda.

We have noticed a widely circulating video on social media which was selectively edited to create a distastable framing of the issues our @ChairpersonUhrc was addressing.
The interview held yesterday with @bbstvug was meant to clarify that the "corrupt MPs" that the President H.E @KagutaMuseveni forgave recently, after our Chairperson recorded them solicing for bribes, had turned around to fund a section of Members of the Commission to traverse falsehoods against her on a daily basis. NTV built Agnes Nandutu to one of the best journalists Uganda has ever had.
