Alan Wilson has been a fantastic Attorney General in South Carolina and he’s going to be an even better Governor.
Proud to call him a long time friend and fellow Army officer built of the highest integrity, and unyielding selflessness and love for his state and country.
To do my job effectively at EPA, it is important to leave D.C. and see firsthand the issues Americans are facing in their communities. Last week, I was in Nome, Alaska to do exactly that. From the leaders at Kawerak to the Denali Commission, the Port of Nome, Graphite One Mine, and Nome’s mayor, I heard directly about the ways EPA can better support them. It was a very meaningful trip, and it will help inform the decisions we make back in D.C.
This week, I visited the Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility, the state’s largest wastewater treatment facility. Their operation is serving half the state and supports the nearby military base.
Alaska has unique opportunities, but it also has unique challenges. After meeting with Governor Dunleavy’s team and industry leaders, many Alaskan priorities were clear, including the need for reliable energy for the state and relief from burdensome Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) system failures Alaskan truckers face in extreme cold.
The Trump EPA is working to reduce regulatory barriers for Alaskans. We’ll continue working to support Alaska’s way of life by unleashing domestic energy and supporting new critical infrastructure to move it, and use all available authorities to address DEF system failures.

Through the Trump EPA’s Superfund site cleanup efforts, previously contaminated land is being turned into thriving community areas that boost economic prosperity. EPA Region 10 is working to restore rivers for fishing, former industrial sites to create new parks and recreation opportunities, and so much more.
In my first 9.5 months as EPA Administrator last year, I traveled to all 50 states to hear directly from Americans on their highest priority asks. The best way to run this federal agency isn’t to be stuck sitting at a desk in DC. Just got back from Oklahoma, Indiana, North Carolina, and New York as we keep our commitment to be out with the great people of our country as much as possible.
One of my first acts as EPA Administrator was instituting and enforcing a ZERO TOLERANCE policy towards ANY waste and abuse. In 2025, the Trump EPA saved $30 BILLION at an agency with an annual operating budget of $10 BILLION. I explained how that was possible during remarks last week at the National Association of Home Builders’ conference in DC.
