Just as I was talking to children & young people in Tonga today about the importance of disaster preparedness, we experienced an earthquake.

Thanks to early warning systems, we were soon informed that there was no threat of a tsunami.

These tools are vital for so many - in the Pacific & beyond.

Delighted to moderate the 1st panel of #womeninscience Policy Dialogue examining the root causes behind why girls show less interest and ability in STEM subjects beyond early childhood, plus why the in idea of a gendered brain persists. @UNDPChina

In the 1st session from our #womeninscience policy dialogue, panelists explored the root causes for gender disparities in science including socio-cultural influences, biases, and stereotypes, and looked at measures to encourage more girls to study #STEM subjects from a young age.
