Not really sure how I feel about a “Universal Blanket License” for the Internet. I mean it sounds good in theory but it doubt the structure & reporting will support it so that it’s successful. Gotta do more research about this 🤔 I’m not convinced yet
“When it comes to music distribution, artists should beware of the industry's tourists” - Our CCO’s, @TheNickGordon, Op-Ed on @musicbizworld https://t.co/LJyTlr8mf4
one advice for starting musicians is that u don’t need a fancy and amazing sounding instrument. u just need one that inspires u and feels good in your hands
The concept of a song being so amazing, so impacful, where it strikes a chord within you and gives you goosebumps or chills or stankifys your face muscles. Where your body physically says “yeah this wild”. That right there’s cool to me.
Hip-Hop started as a culture that didn't just let anybody rep. You had to go through something to earn that right. Now it's treated as low-hanging fruit by exploitative goofballs who will try it out for a minute, but never love or respect it.
@Necie_Reed@samiswine There is no “one size fit all” and “all managers do this or that.” Every manager is different and does business differently. I’m a good/great manager for indie artists at the ground level who need help planning.
@evangerules@samiswine Because something is “accurate” doesn’t mean it’s a “fact”. Sources of information are just as important as the information itself. I’m assuming those who believe this “managers work for free” are ones who don’t have managers or have “personal” managers - not the same.
In 2013, I lost THEE BIGGEST opportunity of my life. This is why I became a Manager - To make sure ARTISTS NEVER MISS AN OPPORTUNITY WHEN IT COMES BECAUSE IT WILL if you’re serious #musicbusiness#musicindustry#artistmanagement#sparkswoodmgmt
@samiswine@TDarrio Might be a good idea to supply factual data to support your position. Although some of what you’re saying is true, what you’ve said about management isn’t. I know because I’m a manager & don’t work on commission because I AM NOT an agent. We can talk about it more if you want 😉
