@insidewelly @jackyan I never said scrub history. The reality is we can’t. It happened. But we don’t have to fly the worst parts on a flag pole to help people have pride in Wellington.
@JennyKayNZ Agree this flag is no longer relevant to current day Wellington. But as a person of Nordic descent, I take umbrage at the suggestion that the 1962 design has some intentionally dark overtone and that my cultural heritage is therefore somehow less worthy of acknowledgement.
#Wellington needs a flag that properly represents it and its people. Inclusive and diverse. Plus how about using funds for more council housing?

Oh look, it's me talking about flags again. A few words from me in this article about the @wellyflag chatter that's started up again.

Yes Wellington, I think most of us would be a bit unconvinced by this flag and is not a great way to advance our partnership with mana whenua. https://t.co/zLpBt0Y1G1
Wellington City Councillor Nicola Young is hoping to revive the use of Wellington's flag, even if she thinks it looks a little like Captain Pugwash.
Would you like to see it flying around the capital city?
