I'm guessing the difference is just formula depreciation, rather than actual valuations & appraisals.

People get hypnotized by accounting numbers and forget there are alternative methods.

It's really tempting to take the cites at face value. They're correctly formatted. I knew ChatGPT was wrong, but I still doubted myself.

@steve_vladeck @questauthority Yeah, ChatGPT is meant to prioritize talking over accuracy.

Which means it's a total liar.

It told me a string of lies about a specific legal issue. And even when confronted with its well-formatted but delusional cites, it followed up with new lies.

They accused RCID of "self-dealing," which (eli5) means your job was to help others, but instead, you lied and just helped yourself.

Florida is mad at Disney. Whatever legal theory Florida uses will likely be a pretext to go after Disney.

@AlecStapp Even for OWS, the FDA/CDC approved a few much faster than normal (though still weirdly slow) but then closed it off.

Other vaccines were fine, but the urgency had already faded, so no approval.

Those bottlenecks will apply to anything less scary than an ongoing pandemic.

It felt like: "all of humanity wants this solution immediately, so we will shovel money at it."

Those other things aren't frightening & urgent in the same way. So the project dynamics will be different.
