This will probably be the next mass scandal to come into public consciousness.
The #LoanChargeScandal
70,000+ people affected
Mutliple suicides
No punishment for companies involved who waltzed away with the money, inc at least one Tory donor
Keep holding them to account.

@ProBTechRecords It's a horrid issue, outside of my area but it is awful situation. It's not something I'd do on my show as that's reserved for consumers, but if it comes up when I'm presenting a general show I will. I will also try (no promises) to mention it (again) to some doc producers.
In case anyone is wondering why I’m so angry, I tonight read through the information I’ve seen about the decent people pushed to suicide by @HMRCgovuk & @hmtreasury over the #LoanChargeScandal. It’s heartbreaking. It’s also state sponsored evil. 10 unnecessary deaths. #LoanCharge
Like this: HMRC’s most prestigious offices is owned by a company based in a tax haven that was set up to legally avoid tax of £170m on a government deal.
Or this: HMRC to relocate tax officials to a Newcastle office complex owned through an offshore company based in a tax haven
I raised the heart-breaking personal impact of the loan charge back in 2019 when I warned the Government about the toll it was having.
Extremely sad & distressing to see that a 10th person has tragically died.
We need a new approach from the Government.
A year ago I spoke to @gregwrightYP about harm suffered by people as a result of the loan charge.
I was shocked to learn this week that 10 taxpayers connected with such schemes have taken their own lives.
We can't go on like this. We need a new approach.

When there is a clear correlation between a government policy and people taking their own lives, the answer is not to continue with the policy as if nothing has happened.
We have lost 10 taxpayers facing the loan charge.
What more needs to be said?
Dear @trussliz, if cutting taxes is a key theme on your agenda, consider starting with those taxes that stem from wrongheaded policy and practice such as the #LoanCharge
I have added my name to an open letter to @trussliz & @RishiSunak, urging them to review and resolve the #LoanChargeScandal if elected PM. Many of those most severely affected were 'duped' into schemes with the perpetrators escaping unpunished. This must change. @loanchargeAPPG
The Loan Charge Action Group has welcomed the commitment made by Liz Truss, who is the favourite to become PM, to look into what she described as the “appalling” reports of suicides linked with the #loancharge. Report by @gregwrightYP

@loanchargeAPPG
Thank you @trussliz for agreeing to look into the unfair #LoanCharge that has led to nine suicides, this is indeed “appalling”. Will you also commit to act @RishiSunak? Please commit to review & resolve the #LoanChargeScandal before more lives are lost.
