@FranckJmy@LeoSzil It seems like the ramifications of nuclear weapons are a very concerning fact. To that I ask, if they ramifications are so concerning, why not stop trying to develop them? #2018CUAB
Today in my colloquium I presented the right solution to the atomic bomb problem. Some people believe that I've known what the correct design was since the 6th. But this is not true at all. My thinking underwent a radical transformation. #2018CUAB
Today the newspapers report that the atomic bomb weighed 200 kg. This reading for the bomb "has me worried considerably, and therefore this evening I have done a few calculations and have seen that it is more probable than we had thought…" #2018CUAB
I knew from the beginning that Germany didn't have enough resources for the bomb. I confirmed this by reading the newspaper today. The Allies had 150,000 personnel in their bomb project while we only had a few hundred people. I am unsure why they need this many people. #2018CUAB
Today I was talking with my colleague Otto Hahn, and he asked me why the United States would need 30 kg of U235 a year. So, I responded with, "Quite honestly, I have never worked it out as I never believed one could get pure U235." #2018CUAB
The French lines advanced toward Hechingen today, so I moved my staff, with all the extra supplies, to the basement of the factory for protection. I then left as soon as I could to get to my family. I only have a bike at my disposal, so I plan to arrive in a few days. #2018CUAB
@Albert_E1nstein@KlausFuchs_ Isn't it a little too late to try to prevent more world powers from trying to control a weapon of this magnitude? Doesn't it seem inevitable at this point? #2018CUAB
Due to all of the Allied bombings, it was hard for my team to pursue our reactor research. It got to the point that it was impossible to continue our work, so we created an outpost in the Black Forest region of Germany and I finally moved all of my team there today. #2018CUAB
This summer, I was visited by an old friend wanting me to conspire against Hitler. I was completely speechless, so I clearly turned it down. Today they are searching for the people who were in charge of the attack yesterday, and I am worried my friend was involved. #2018CUAB
I left for Urfeld today, so I could visit my family. When I arrived, I learned that the attempt on Hitler's life had failed! Apparently when Stauffenberg placed the suitcase with the bomb in it, someone had moved it out of the way which let Hitler escape only wounded. #2018CUAB
Today was the second time I hosted the Wednesday Society's meeting at my house. I decided to lecture on the constitution of stars. I also gave a brief explanation of the process of nuclear fission. Ten members, including myself, attended this meeting. #2018CUAB
Today I wrote to my mother "we experience each beautiful day that is given to us as a gift from the Good Lord, for which we are thankful." I also told my wife, "we don't want to think of anything but this happiness, for these could indeed be our last moments together." #2018CUAB
Once Diebner and I arrived at Bohr's institute, we met with his colleagues, professors Christian Møller and Hans Jacobsen and the gestapo officer in charge of the institute. I then demonstrated to the officer that Bohr was not engaged in any underground activities. #2018CUAB
