Everything exposed by the light is made visible, for what makes everything visible is light. Therefore it is said: Get up, sleeper, and rise up from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.
Ephesians 5:13-14
5/4 Pastors, if you are struggling with doing those things and finding time for your family let me suggest this. Your family deserves a good you. While these things might take you away from them, it will make you a better husband and father.
4/4 Exercise. I know this one comes a bit out of left field compared to the rest. Your whole being benefits from regular movement. Your mental, physical, spiritual condition will improve if your body moves as opposed to living a slothful lifestyle.
3/4 Read scripture daily. There are many reasons to do this but in the context of this thread, there is a main one: it is easier to see God working currently if you can see how he worked previously. God works in more ways than we even see because we are naïve to how he works.
2/4 Here are a few things disciplines I've adopted recently to help cultivate this mindset. 1. Spend time daily in prayer. Keep track of what you have prayed for and how God has responded to those prayers. It is incredible to go back and see those answered prayers from him.
1/4 Yes. I know the world is not in the best shape. I do not live under a rock. I am not immune to the terrible physical, emotional, and spiritual pain that this world brings. Even so, it brings a great smile to my face to see how God is working and moving.
“I thought my job as a pastor would focus on getting my church members to encourage each other to do what the Bible commands. Instead, most of my job is keeping my church members from demanding things of each other the Bible never does.”
