No matter how much potential you have, if you don’t fully lock in and take charge of your life, you’ll eventually end up as the guy who had potential but nothing to show for it.
One thing I’ve noticed is that many people believe graduate trainee roles in top organizations are only secured through connections. While referrals can happen, the truth is that a large number of people who get these opportunities earn them by having the right information, preparing strategically, and putting in the work.
Graduate trainee programs are highly competitive for a few reasons:
• Most organizations have strict age requirements, usually 26 or 27 years old, and only occasionally 28.
• You’re competing with some of the best graduates, many of whom finished with a First Class degree or narrowly missed one.
• The assessment stages often include quantitative and aptitude tests, so strong numerical reasoning skills can make a big difference (you need to know the basic mathematics).
If you meet the minimum requirements and want to improve your chances, here are a few things that can help:
Tailor your CV to the specific role you’re applying for. Don’t send the same generic CV everywhere.
Practice GMAT and Dragnet-style questions consistently. Many candidates fail at the assessment stage simply because they underestimate it.
Prepare for interviews by researching common questions and learning about the company ( I’ll recommend watching interview questions and answers on YouTube, and know how to answer the question “tell me about yourself using the SEAT method).
Also learn how to answer Competency base interview questions (CBI), using the STAR METHOD.
Pay attention to what successful candidates are doing and adopt the same level of discipline and preparation.
At the end of the day, preparation won’t guarantee success, but it will put you in a much stronger position than simply assuming the opportunity is out of reach.
@TrendingEx I understand the need for @SevillaFC to fulfill the obligation, but why start a career with lawsuit? This right here can serve as an impeding factor in achieving his actual dreams of getting attractive suitors.
Just my personal opinion though.
