We were delighted to be with our wonderful team at #cft23 in London this weekend; boosting our skills&knowledge in supporting people in pain. Also very excited to meet up with consultant physio @margotphysio who is buzzing to take CFT training to @NHSGGCMSKPhysio 👏
Just yes. I am now in private practice solely and we decided to make the clinical week 3 days , an hour for lunch and an hour for assessments. Feels like a relief. And our pt’s often less complex. Staff health THE most important thing.
"I believe that every body tells a story. My mission as a pelvic health Physio is to understand that story and help you develop a new chapter".

Flexed lumbar spine postures are associated with greater strength and efficiency than lordotic postures during a maximal lift in pain-free individuals
"These findings further question the manual handling advice to lift with a lordotic lumbar spine." ‼️‼️

Honoured to have @nanettemutrie, Professor in Physical Activity, here today. 🙌 Great to work with such an authority/leader in exercise accessibility and messages in our country..... and just such a lovely person tae boot.
Lockdown & working from home brings many challenges that at least in theory can impact on pain. There is MUCH MORE than being sedentary or sitting also. Changing social roles, job insecurity, health-anxiety, sleep disturbance, worry about the future. This isn't a sitting problem!
The culture in moving and handling messages needs to change, as it feeds fear and tension. More and more evidence points towards this. Another great study below. 👇

@gsingh1902 I'd might have said, " so what did make you come today then? You might have had some hope that this appointment might help you? Tell me your story and let's see where it goes. " You handled well though. Roll with resistance.
Our third night of the @NBritPain November lecture series is underway. Delighted to have @ShonaHouston5 talking about how important our language is when talking to patients - and how as clinicians we have the potential to increase fear with poor communication
We continually aim to work towards improving all these factors in our clinic and dont underestimate any of them...they are the pinnacle of what we do. We work with humans, not machines❤
Our poster “How can physios enhance lives? Acting beyond the biopsychosocial model” is available for download in @physiopedia! https://t.co/nSq4ZuEHNx

@thecsp The "up to date" alternative options in the survey are clearly minimally different from the 100yr originals. I can't complete this survey. This needs a serious rethink.
⭐Just because pain is difficult to change doesn't mean it can't.
⭐Just because people live well with pain doesn't mean it doesn't bother them.
⭐Just because patients and clinician value function doesn't mean pain reduction shouldn't also be a goal of treatment.
We're delighted to say we'll be opening again on Monday 15th June for online consultations, however face to face appointments will be available if necessary.
