@rwrandall@wychstreet On the other hand, I’d love to see a high profile production of Steven Dietz’s “God’s Country” because unfortunately it has become INCREDIBLY relevant again.
@rwrandall@wychstreet “The Pillowman” is the only play in 40 years of theatre-going I’ve ever left at intermission. Just absolute torture p0rn garbage. So yes to timeless challenging plays but no to that one in particular.
@bullydoc Absolutely. I kind of blame our current state of affairs on our collective, juvenile obsession with superhero movies. One guy swoops in, saves the day, all is well. Reality is more like a third-rate Herzog nature documentary.
Tonight, Trump:
—Once again said Americans who don’t support him are “the enemy within”
—Announced that Americans should “get ready” for him to bring back laws from the 1700s
—Attacked journalists as “enemies” and fantasized about “decapitating” a reporter
—Denigrated America and attacked U.S. military leadership, calling them “stupid”
@emilynussbaum I teach in a small, independent middle school and I have my students read one novel of their choice per month and three class-study novels per year. There really is no cognitive shortcut around sustaining attention through a novel-length narrative.
@realJosh79 You are a genuinely horrible person. Not that it should matter, but the entire region affected trends very conservative, white, and Christian.
@fitz4boys We study the Haitian Revolution at my school and students are always horrified to learn this. Of *course* Haiti struggles, it’s baked into their very beginnings as a nation. Shameful.
@tomandlorenzo Great piece. Michelle’s outfit was incredibly arresting and my very first thought was, “she looks like The Future.” Kamala’s look was all business like you said and I think it was perfection.
Donald Trump picked NC GOP chairman Michael Whatley to lead the Republican National Committee.
Kamala Harris picked NC Gov. Roy Cooper to introduce her at the Democratic Convention.
North Carolinians, the most powerful people in the world are telling you: your vote matters.
