@Mdband22 So, you haven't seen all the tweets calling Europeans Europoors for liking a ''wimpy'' and ''boring'' sport like soccer and saying that ''if our athletes played soccer, we'd win the World Cup''?
@FactsAndLogicc@LangmanVince They're not lol. Anyone who's never kicked a ball looks like a fish out of water. Go look up footage of NFL players trying soccer. They can't control the ball and can't shoot or pass well consistently. When's the last time you tried playing soccer?
@_BroadwayJoel Me, personally I love single elimination for the WBC. Look at how Venezuela clinched the championship. Only single elimination could have provided that kind of drama. Let's keep series for the MLB only.
@_BroadwayJoel WBC has been amazing the last couple of editions. Drama on par with the World Cup, literally on the edge of your seat during every at-bat. Problem is, a 3-game series would make scheduling the WBC impossible. You just have to accept the craziness of single elimination.
@PitViolation@JMattWeaver It's not. WBC had all the drama, in fact it had drama almost on par with the drama seen at this World Cup. It's only red-blooded Americans who look down on the WBC. We saw walk-off homeruns, comebacks, crowds cheering every single strike out, tears of joy, tears of defeat.
@JMattWeaver Olympic Baseball would have the opposite effect. If you want something like the World Cup you should fully support the WBC, which is baseball doing everything on its own, not having to rely on the whim of the IOC. Baseball is not a permanent Olympic event after all.
@MattCouture5 Dude thinks he's the first to make this exact argument. We've heard these exact words: ''if our best athletes...'' so many times in the last decade. It's not even true. If you paid attention, last night proved the opposite: technique, tactics, coordination can't be brute-forced
@PatrickWCutler I know it's ragebait, but Patrick, don't be fooled by the number of likes on your tweet. It doesn't mean you're right. It's unfathomable how global soccer is, even countries like Eritrea have a professional league. Eritrea!
@DevSportsTalk@NashVash46294 You think you're winning the argument but you're not. The US also has a main sport that trumps all others: football. There is always going to be a nr 1. It just so happens to be soccer in the UK, doesn't mean that's the ONLY sport people excel at.
@DevSportsTalk That's not true lol. Plenty of European countries have full-fledged basketball leagues, pro handball leagues, pro swimmers, tennis players, hockey players etc.
@PFF_Nicky Why is it so hard to admit that a red card is always an automatic ban for the next game? Soccer fans know this intuitively, hence the surprise, not only in Europe. It's only happened once before when red cards didn't even exist yet.
@Qf0ll0wer@SaltyGoat17 Indoor rinks are all located in cold climates. You completely miss the point:hockey is a sport for rich white countries. It is virtually non-existent in South America, Africa, parts of Asia and Europe. It is not an option at all, to the point where ''worse'' athletes choose socce
@astampfer@Oreofirelight@TanyeriMustafa@JordanSchachtel It's no use trying to explain this to Americans, who for 95% do not like or watch soccer. They keep using NFL language to explain the foul. And you're absolutely right. Intent is not mentioned anywhere in Law 12. Intent is only relevant for handballs (''deliberate movement'').
@DriveByGeek@jeepee36@JordanSchachtel Dude, you guys do not even like soccer, and you're here weighing in like you've watched a 100 games. I'd be surprised if you've watched even one full 90 minute game in your life. It's a clear penalty according to law 12. ''Right to land'' you're using NFL terminology lol.
@FaithNotesCo@mariiximilius@FOXSports I love for the USMNT to make a deep run so that soccer gets bigger in the US, but that is a clear red card any day. It's so obvious to anyone who watches dozens of soccer games a year (in full, not highlights).
@mariiximilius@FOXSports Absolutely. Intent is only relevant for handballs, NOT relevant for red card offenses. The word ''intent'' is not mentioned anywhere in Law 12. His action was reckless and endangered his opponents; as his foot is about to land he pushes further onto his opponent's ankle. 100% red
@Kevin_Kinkead The English would have accepted it. They invented the sport, I've found them to be very fair when it comes disciplinary actions. Fans would grumble but nothing more than that.
@Qf0ll0wer@SaltyGoat17 Yeah, like most of the world lives in a hockey-friendly cold climate...Did you even think before sending this tweet? It makes zero sense.
