@colorblindk1d Personally, I find even properly qualified immunity at odds with other rulings establishing that cops have no duty to actually help you or place themselves in dangerous situations. Extraordinary privileges should come with extraordinary obligations.
@DastDn You just need RGB lighting on everything. That's it. Every single one of those propoganda slop videos that China puts out is just them paying people to turn on all their lights at night.
@SwannMarcus89 The insanity defense should be outlawed, period. If you aren't mentally competent to stand trial, you get treatment in a mental institution until you are (if ever), and then you go to trial.
@DastDn Michigan's arch-rival is Ohio State, not Ohio. Ohio University is a completely different university and competes at a lower tier in college ball (still Division 1 FBS, but in a less prestigious and talented conference). Even as a troll, no UM fan would ever call OSU "Ohio".
@DastDn They learned well the lessons of the Winter War. The Finn turned the production of their national distillery entirely over to the production of Molotov cocktails.
@PrasFrancis@SportsSturm I think what happens is they still have too many games where they fail to move the ball for long stretches of time, and their close game luck continues to regress. Sirianni gets fired and they bring in a new offense minded HC who they swear will fix Hurts.
@PrasFrancis@SportsSturm That may be a year too soon but I think Sirianni is scapegoated and drummed out after this year and then Hurts follows him out the door after 2027.
@DastDn Also part of it: the Vance wing of the party now resides in the state Libertarian Party after executing a coup and the actual libertarians are now all in the Republican Party.
@DastDn They aren't really an outlier so much as they just represent the last rear guard of the Rockefeller wing (on behalf of all of New England really). They go for whoever the perceived moderate is. In 2016 that was Trump, but in 2028 it will not be Vance. Straightforward really.
@TheAmishDude@neoavatara@KenGardner11 If it was actually happening you could comfortably double the opposition once NIMBYs and de-growthers went into action.
@TheAmishDude@neoavatara@KenGardner11 There was a poll just this past week showing about 25% opposition to a traditional manufacturing factory or solar plant being built near themselves, and 35% to a chip fab. And that's with those things being purely abstract theoreticals for 95% of people.
@neoavatara@TheAmishDude@KenGardner11 I really don't think it can be understood how much of this is a perverse coalition of people who don't want -anything- new built, either because they want somebody else to bear the cost or because they view it as evil b/c of capitalism or climate change.
@neoavatara@TheAmishDude@KenGardner11 At least 30 to 40% would still be angry about it. Probably more, depending on what it was. Something with a green halo around it, 40% opposition. A steel mill, an auto plant, a semi fab, at least 60 to 70%.
