Firefighters battled a fully involved house fire in Kinburn yesterday evening.

At approximately 5:44 p.m., the Ottawa Fire Services Communications Division received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting flames coming from the attached garage of a single-family home in the 1800 block of Diamondview Road.

Firefighters arrived on scene two minutes after being dispatched and confirmed the fire had spread from the garage into the two-storey home. The structure was fully involved, with heavy smoke and flames coming from the residence.

Firefighters were met outside by the residents, who confirmed everyone had safely evacuated and all pets were accounted for.

Crews initiated a fast attack and advanced a hose line toward the structure. The home is located in an area of the City of Ottawa without fire hydrants, so Firefighters used tanker trucks to shuttle water to the scene from a nearby water source.

Propane tanks on one side of the home created an additional hazard for Firefighters operating on scene. An aerial ladder was also set up to attack the flames from above.

The fire was declared under control at 6:59 p.m.

Victim Services was dispatched to assist seven residents who will be displaced due to the fire.

An @OttFire Investigator attended the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
