@GeriPerna This is sarcasm. Actually what happened was Peter confronted Ananias and Sapphira just when they thought they were safe from the church finding out about their greed. God actually killed them for it. If you were the book keeper, they probably would have gotten away with it.
@GeriPerna Yes! Just like when the treasurer of the early church insisted that Peter had no business knowing about the giving/finance of Ananias and Sapphira. It was none of his business!
Church folk like to hide their lack of faithful giving behind a curtain of “privacy”. It’s idolatry.
@FalconryFinance The experiment doesn’t represent the actual desisted of these materials. Surface water is less dense than continental crust. In your experiment, the “crust” is so unconsolidated and full of air that it is less dense than the water. Don’t draw any conclusions from this experiment
@DPGBehler Reading through these comments it appears that many Christians have little interest in deeply understanding scriptural context and have a flawed view of inspiration.
@JoeHadenuff @Protestia Thank you for the context, but I try not to make sweeping judgments of churches based on a picture.
The reasoning they gave for the “sabbath” was to give employees and volunteers a break. Nothing budget related. YOU are the one straw-manning their clearly stated motives.
@JoeHadenuff @Protestia I’m not arguing that this is how it should be, but it’s the reality of church in America right now.
Aging facilities, lack of faithful giving, inflation of expenses. It all adds up to churches unable to be financially sustained in their current form.
@JoeHadenuff @Protestia Many churches that are not “run like a business” close their doors. Our American concept of church being a weekly gathering in a big building with tax-exempt status has forced churches to be “businesses”, requiring employees, accounting, marketing, etc…
@Protestia Oh yes how horrible that someone use their talents to make music for God.
The Spirit was moving past the normal ending of the song and she used her talent to improv an extended version and not distract everyone in the process.
Take a breath people😂
@NotEvolution1 This Sunday-School-level statement is made out of ignorance. The Dead Sea Scrolls have Goliath at 6’6” and is almost certainly the more accurate and original text on this matter. The average hight of an Israelite in the patriarchal period was about 5ft so 6’6” is still a giant.
@CantonGmetal@Matthew24081726@NotEvolution1 Adam’s purpose was do “subdue” the earth and expand the garden(God’s presence). The Hebrew term kavash(subdue) is an EXTREMELY harsh term most often used in reference to war conquest. You can think of it as bringing the earth into submission. Doesn’t sound so perfect does it?
@CantonGmetal@Matthew24081726@NotEvolution1 I believe in a physical garden and a physical Adam and Eve. Genesis is clear that humans (yes even Adam) were created as mortal(from dust) with the natural ability to physically die. Genesis STRONGLY eludes to others living outside the garden with no access to the tree of life.
