The temperature at the Philadelphia Airport reached at least 101 degrees on 3 consecutive days from July 2-4, 2026, which was unprecedented in records going back to 1874. Only twice before (7/2-4/1966 and 7/8-10/1993) did the temperature reached 100 on 3 consecutive days.

Measurable precipitation fell at the Airport on only 8 days during the October-November period of 2024 (9 days on my Bryn Mawr thermometer) -- the fewest for the period since at least 1872. The previous record was 9 such days in 1924 and 2001. 1872-2023 mean = 17 days.

With a mean temperature of 63.3 degrees at the Philadelphia Airport (62.4 on my Bryn Mawr thermometer), the February-November period of 2024 was the warmest since 1825. The previous record was 62.9 degrees in 2016 and 2022. 1874-2024 mean temp. for Feb.-Nov. = 59.3 degrees.

With a mean temperature of 60.8 degrees at the Philadelphia Airport (60.2 on my Bryn Mawr thermometer), the January-November period of 2024 was the warmest since 1825. The previous record was 60.3 degrees in 2012. 1874-2024 mean temp. for Jan.-Nov. = 56.9 degrees.

The point still stands. The Republicans won't be able to lose more than one or two votes to pass even something modest in the next Congress. Nothing sweeping will pass.

The daily maximum temperature of 74 degrees at the Philadelphia Airport on 11/11/2024 (69.8 on my Bryn Mawr thermometer) tied the record high set in 1949 and 2006.
