@bphogan Nuxt is fine if you are ok with Vue; or Remix if you prefer react. Nextjs will make your life hard to host outside Vercel if you don't have DevOps to support infra/deploy.
FYI to the couple I overheard arguing about this at the grocery - Brown eggs and white eggs are the same. Brown eggs aren’t better for you AND they aren’t whole wheat eggs. 🤦🏻♂️
@alexgraveley Just curious what do you mean by "worked against"? Some examples would be good - often saw similar situations on my teams and in fact, it was miscommunication and misunderstanding as the senior role was doing due diligence rather than being or acting against
Are we in the midst of an #AI apocalypse? If you've been scrolling through your feeds recently, you might think so. Alarm bells are ringing and panic buttons are being pressed as we're bombarded with headlines like "AI set to annihilate JOB X" or "TECHNOLOGY Y to be rendered obsolete by AI".
If this feels like a rerun of a bad sci-fi movie to you, you're not alone. Don't get caught in the net of click-hungry opportunists trying to reel in your fears for a quick boost to their follower count. They're selling more anxiety and confusion than enlightenment or value.
Remember when TVs were going to be the grim reaper for radios? Or when email was sharpening its scythe for good old-fashioned letters? Heck, even Slack was supposed to be Email's karma, finally ending its reign. And yet, here we are, in a world where all these coexist in harmony.
We were told that the rise of personal computing and software would spell doom for many jobs, but the transition has been far more gradual than some 'expert' oracles predicted. Laws, unions, culture, and a myriad of geopolitical factors can't simply be swept under the rug. They shape our realities as much as technology does.
So here's a bit of advice. Next time you come across a post foretelling the next AI apocalypse, take a quick peek at the author. Are they a consistent voice in AI? Do they demonstrate depth and understanding? Or are they just riding the wave of the topic du jour? If it's the latter, your 'block' button might need some exercise.
Staying relevant in the face of innovation isn't a question of outwitting AI or winning some imaginary tech arms race. It's simple. Don't. Stop. Learning. Challenge yourself. Step out of your comfort zone. That's the secret recipe to keep thriving in a world that's evolving faster than ever.

I got a "Regenerate Response" at the bottom of a cover letter from a candidate. Using AI/LLMs is less of a problem; copying and pasting without reviewing it means a lot more in this context.
One of the most recurring symptoms of teams struggling to scale is when the strategy relies only on hiring without having a proper process to scale and grow people. Hiring at speed can change dramatically the culture, which reflects in time-to-market and impacts the business
I'm at the moment, an advocate for Software Developer as a title. That is all. So skills are not reflected in titles and also not an incentive to not expand the breadth and focus only on the depth of one's T shape. In this way, teams can be composed by looking into the individual's skills rather than looking generically in the box they were put originally.

@jaymeedwards Not wrong; progressive companies are taking care of that by eliminating middle management and enhancing teams with true cross-functionality and independence. Soon, it won't be a rare thing.
Managing engineers through the lens of traditional people management makes no sense at all for starters. Drawing from experience, building high-performing teams, when supportive/servant leadership is adopted, and a career framework that enables growth and progression without involving leadership are the true enablers for motivated and happy teams. All that to say, sometimes the only option engineers have to keep growing at the current company is to start managing people - a great recipe for creating mediocre leaders.
