I fully appreciate that I'm never on this platform any more and most people seeing this know me from about 10 years ago so hi, this is what I get hyped about now
The Prosecraft fiasco, and this specific response from its creator, has sparked such an interest in the part of my brain that buzzes about data ethics because....wow, what a lack of ethical consideration for your data sources and your end users in one flowery response.
@ZachRoseWriter The only purpose of this project is to serve the community of authors, whose works I cherish. And I hoped people would find a fascinating and useful tool.
Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD, right? It's such a basic principle and it needs to be centred at every level of data science. What are the best interests of the people behind your datasets, and the people using your output?
@RosiannaRojas Ugh that's the true horror! I've got a couple more weeks than you on my mortgage offer and isn't it just absurdly stressful?!
(Good luck, i hope it's sorted ASAP!)
@EarlsfieldWolf @CraigMcKeith I don't know Craig but I think he seems like the kind of person who supports descent, ascent, and even just travelling along on a flat surface.
Since I got my moving date I've been swinging wildly between feeling really sentimental about this flat I've been living in since 2013 and then counting down the days until I don't have to hear my upstairs neighbour attempt to rap along to Eminem ever again.
