Matt Gaetz has resigned from Congress, two days before the House Ethics Committee was set to vote on releasing a “highly damaging” report outlining its investigation into Gaetz they started in 2021 for allegedly engaging in sexual misconduct and illicit drug use, accepting improper gifts, dispensed special privileges and favors to individuals with whom he had a personal relationship, and sought to obstruct government investigations of his conduct.

By law, the Ethics Committee loses its jurisdiction over Gaetz once he leaves Congress, and that report will never see the light of day.
