Tennis is one of the most brutal sports on earth.

You need the hand-eye coordination of a baseball player, the footwork of a boxer, the endurance of an Ironman, the explosiveness of a sprinter, the change of direction of a basketball player, and the mental stamina of a chess grandmaster.

You spend 10,000 hours building a groundstroke.

You compete in brutal heat with no air conditioning, no timeouts, no substitutions and no teammates to save you.

Every mistake is yours. Every adjustment is yours. Every ounce of pressure sits squarely on your shoulders.

Then after four or five hours of war, when your legs are gone and your lungs are burning, you still have to make split-second decisions at 100 mph.

It’s not a game.
