H-1B marriage prospects are getting nuked by this regulatory proposal in 3, 2, 1…

This is what happens when you mix temporary visas and a culture that does arranged marriages.

This will get a ton of H-1B visa holders to self-deport because their wife wants to work or because they can’t maintain their lifestyle on a single income.

This will significantly impact real estate markets in H-1B heavy areas more than anything that is public so far.

Amazing what happens when an employer is actually required to look for an American first.

An H-1B worker says his employer started the PERM green-card process.

PERM required the company to test the U.S. labor market.

They looked.

They found a qualified American.

And the PERM process stopped.

Now DOL is proposing to strengthen these recruitment requirements because the PERM rules haven’t been comprehensively updated since 2004.

But here’s the question nobody seems able to answer:

Why should employers have to seriously test the U.S. labor market before sponsoring a worker for a green card, but generally NOT before hiring that same worker on H-1B?

Imagine what we’d find if we required the same test at the front door.

“The real issue here is that the FDA commissioner, as we sit here today, does not know what's in our food. Most Americans, most moms would assume that the ingredients in our food have been subjected to safety studies. That is not true.

For the past 40 years, the food industry's taken advantage of a loophole where they can ‘Generally recognize a food as safe GRAS.’ And 95 % of food ingredients now in our food supply have been self-identified as safe with no safety studies.

Once you designate that loophole, you do not have to submit the ingredient or safety studies to the FDA and that loophole use has led to the FDA not knowing what's in our food. It could be 2,000 ingredients, it could be 10,000. We don't know. There is no safety study on food”

Through FY2026 Q3, employers received certification for 830,710 foreign-worker positions under the H-1B/H-1B1/E-3 LCA program.

And look where they’re going:

• 241,846 Software Developers
• 62,170 Electronics Engineers
• 30,973 Data Scientists
• 28,058 IT Project Managers
• 24,743 Software QA Analysts & Testers

Software developers alone account for 29.1% of every certified position.

Top employers?

Cognizant: 79,121
Qualcomm: 71,203
Amazon: 45,025

Meanwhile, American tech workers keep being told there aren’t enough jobs.

At what point do we stop calling this a “skills shortage” and start asking why hundreds of thousands of foreign-worker positions are being certified while Americans are looking for work?

This one is heartbreaking.

He spent 25 YEARS at Adobe.

Senior Software Quality Engineer.

More than 15 years of quality engineering experience.

Laid off in August 2025.

Then he spent more than a year looking for another job in tech.

Applications filtered out.
Recruiters ghosted him.
Interviews that never happened.

Eventually, he gave up.

His next career?

Driving a school bus.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with driving a school bus. It’s important, honest work.

But something is deeply broken when an American with 25 years at one of the world’s premier software companies can’t find another job in tech while we’re simultaneously told America has such a shortage of tech talent that employers need hundreds of thousands of foreign-worker positions.

This is what gets lost in the H-1B debate.

These aren’t statistics.

They’re people.

Before we search the world for another tech worker, shouldn’t Americans like him at least get a fair shot?
