@DrHelenFry My father was in military government. He assisted in setting up civilian governments in formerly occupied towns in France, Belgium, then in Germany as well. He spent many weeks in a spa town called Bad Kissingen. Wrote our mom over 400 letters which we have.

@elmunc He arrived in 1945 late winter/early spring and I believe stayed through early fall 1945. His descriptions of the town and people in it are fascinating. He wrote @400 letters from 1943-returning home in early 1946.
