Putting in the extra mile absolutely does work. I've now seen ~100 people break into SWE personally, and the differentiator is hustle, charm, habits, presentation, attitude.

Students who are 1/5th as good engineers will earn 2x as much because of charm. It's all playing odds.

Last weekend I asked Claude to write me a to do list web app that showed me a calendar, let me click on a day, and add an item to that day. It could not produce a piece of code that would do that. 10 rewrites later, it *never* put the to do list item on the day i wanted it.

Let me get this straight:

- Everyone at Figma worked on AI to rush it before Config so they didn't work on any other features.

- Figma had to pull AI because the results were sub-par.
