We couldn't leave out our fantastic Grade 5 orators! Mazal tov to all our our students, including these Public Speaking winners from our two Grade 5 classes.
And check out those medals - made right in our own #makerspace!

Students @The_OJCS have started getting their end-of-year notices about returning library books. Please have a good look at home and have students return the books to the library. If books are lost, please contact me directly.
A one-pager is an analytical, creative and written response to a novel that completely fills one side of a piece of paper. Students use quotes, questions, pictures and more to depict the important parts of a novel they have read. @The_OJCS
Today our grade 5 students are learning how to use their research skills and critical thinking to evaluate information. This @nearpod lesson is an important reminder to students that not all sources are created equal.

Thanks to the @ottawahumane for teaching us about wildlife conflicts as they relate to our shared habitat. We also learned the importance of working together to develop solutions to common issues involving urban wildlife in our community. @The_OJCS
As part of #JDAIM, Grade 5 welcomed Peter, a gentleman with Cerebral Palsy who uses a device to communicate, and a power chair for mobility. He has a great sense of humour and the kids were able to ask him many questions. #TheOJCSDifference
In preparation for a special guest, who speaks only using a device, we did an activity in which we typed a message we use daily only using 1 knuckle. We were able to see how difficult this daily task can be for people #JDAIM@The_OJCS
