one of the quotes i find most inspiring on a hard day:
"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom"
Ecclesiastes 9:10
This 2-hour Stanford lecture breaks down how models like ChatGPT and Claude are actually built, clearer than what many people in top AI roles ever get exposed to.
Save this and set aside two hours today. It might end up being the most valuable thing you learn all week.
generalists are about to win big
If you understand a little of tech, business, and people, and can connect everything fast.
you're sitting on a goldmine right now.
Such an endearing post match conference by Sanju Samson.
He spoke of the inner struggle that everyone has to go through to overcome fear of failure, but few speak of without pretense.
Also the humility to say it could have gone the other way and why faith is important.
There is the Hardik way to double down and not let doubt creep in - looks spectacular when it comes off, ridiculous when it doesn't.
There is the Samson way to wrestle with self doubt, persevere but know yourself well enough to not put on a mask. Feels authentic but can be self limiting.
There is the Virat way - to channel aggression into maniacal discipline and bend the world to write your history.
There is the Sachin way - Master the terrain but remain the servant of the Game to be the GOAT.
Sports is the reminder of the best possibility in us.
There is no one way for all - Only the way to channel your Svabhava towards its potential but realize the larger game is to give it all but not give in or give up but also be content at the end of the day.
Agree with the horizontal thesis - and it’s even more powerful than described.
The key isn’t just aggregating context across 50 companies. It’s capturing context across different functions within each company - product, engineering, ML, ops, data science. This cross-functional view is the real moat.
Enterprises achieve outcomes through cross-team coordination. If we want agents to own outcomes (not just tasks), they need to do it all by design.
Vertical agents had a moat when building was hard. As coding becomes commoditized and cheap, workflow integrations can be replicated. What can’t: the cross-functional context vertical agents lack by design.
Horizontal agents capture institutional knowledge vertical players can’t. The “10 vertical agents for an enterprise” future is broken. No enterprise will coordinate multiple vendors with partial context syncing through APIs/MCPs. Horizontal platforms with full cross-functional context are the only path to agents that matter.
Vertical agents was a good business model pre-2025. Horizontal agents will build the $100B+ companies.
OCR used to mean teaching machines to read text. now it means teaching them to see language: pixels > tokens.
i wrote a blog post on how modern OCR models like DeepSeek actually “read”
