On April 25, 1976, during a game between the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, two protestors ran onto the field and tried burning an American flag.
Cubs center fielder Rick Monday quickly ran over and grabbed the flag to save it before the protestors could light it on fire. His quick action was met with a standing ovation from the crowd.
When asked later about the incident, Monday said: "If you're going to burn the flag, don't do it around me. I've been to too many veterans' hospitals and seen too many broken bodies of guys who tried to protect it."
Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸
The highlight of 2021 for me--visiting St. Philip's School in Dallas with @CornelWest. After speaking to an assembly of some of the older kids, a group of the little ones walked by us. Cornel and I noticed that some of the little boys hadn't yet mastered shoe-tying.
@weatherchannel thank you for the photo of University of Illinois quad. But you misidentified the town. The photo was of Urbana, IL, not Champaign, IL.
We don't have to fight the culture. Jesus has already won. Therefore, we can live with humility, gentleness, and patience. Put down your boxing gloves and pick your cross.
