@BiologyCarly Greenland sharks = longest-living vertebrates known on Earth.

Researchers used radiocarbon dating to determine the ages of 28 Greenland sharks. One shark was born between 1501 - 1744, but her most likely date of birth was in the 17th century, making her ~400 years old.

@AlliPatter I do this in my drugs and behavior class, asking students to suggest songs to add to the playlist in their beginning of semester survey. I take requests towards the end of the semester too. Most seem to enjoy it or tune it out. Some ask for the playlist 🤗

I do this as well. I use a Google form so they are never pressured to provide justification. It also helps me track patterns of students who are continuously asking for big deadline shifts so I can check in on them and offer extra support. Happy to share the form!

this semester i tried a radical thing where i made every single deadline flexible for my college writing students. every single one! no "i almost died" note required. the policy is that if they aren't going to meet the deadline, they just propose an alternate one. i bet this...
