Peak Cristiano was a ridiculous beast. You didn't need a full game—just a few flashes of his brilliance to be reminded of who he was.Fucking intense...dancing in his own madness.
Thank you, legend, for introducing me to this beautiful game.

@appiecule Deep down, Cristiano always knew Messi was better. That insecurity, in my view, shaped many of his reactions over the years. He always wanted to be No. 1 but just couldn't accept coming second. Messi never cared about the comparison. He was just loving the sport in his own zone

@academy_dinda Don't know about that..but Portugal in football reminds me of South Africa in cricket - always competitive, always capable, yet often falling just short of expectations. That doesn't make either team any less special.

@girthybologna@ATabarrok That's why economists distinguish between nominal and real GDP. If prices rise without higher output, real GDP adjusts for inflation. GDP was never meant to measure prosperity perfectly, it's a measure of economic activity, and it's still one of the best we have.
@girthybologna@ATabarrok That example actually proves why GDP is useful. Printing or handing out money doesn't create GDP by itself. GDP rises when more goods and services are produced—not simply because more money is circulating.
