It is with great relief and joy that I confirm Aleck “Baba Sharo” Macheso is safe and well following the recent road accident that involved one of his older vehicles. When I heard the news, I was deeply concerned. I immediately placed a video call to check on him and, by God’s grace, he had escaped without physical injury. That is all that truly matters.
To celebrate his safety and to replace what was lost, I have gifted Aleck Macheso a brand-new 2026 Toyota Fortuner GD6, fully paid for and registered in his name. In addition, I have pledged US$10,000 to cover any medical check-ups or related needs he may have. This gesture comes from a place of genuine care and respect for a music legend whose work has brought joy to so many across Zimbabwe and beyond.

I also want to acknowledge the steadfast support shown by Macheso’s manager during this difficult moment. THE FOOTBALL TALISMAN……🇿🇼⚽️

There are very FEW names in Zimbabwean football that have shaped the DNA of this GAME. One household name became a VETERAN OF FOOTBALL. A man whose calm discipline but MILITARY-like precision transformed both Dynamos FC and our National team, the Warriors.

A man who qualified the Warriors for their maiden AFCON appearance in 2004 and led them to many other qualifications. A veteran GAFFER who led Zimbabwe to win the FIRST COSAFA Cup trophy…and 3 others 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Football fans knew that when THE GENERAL was in charge, the team would always deliver beyond EXPECTATION !!!

Today, i wish to celebrate none other than the football LEGEND, SUNDAY Marimo “MHOFU” CHIDZAMBWA, my homeboy from Chivhu. What separated him from the rest was his obsession with DISCIPLINE. His famous line, “no STARS, just STRUCTURE” remains etched in the minds of every player who passed through his HANDS. He never allowed ego to eclipse teamwork. It is this firm yet humble leadership that has made him a LEGEND in football, which deserves proper recognition.

Chivayo Beyond the Spectacle

I was prompted to write this piece after reading Wicknell Chivayo’s recent response to concerns raised by a Manicaland legislator regarding the 30MW Gairezi Hydro Power Project. The response was striking not for what it contained, but for how it was delivered: clean, logical, and clinical.

It was devoid of the evasion one might expect from a figure so frequently in the public crosshairs. Instead, it was structured, technically grounded, and unmistakably clear.

That clarity triggered a broader reflection. I found myself recalling other instances where Chivayo has issued similarly disciplined responses, particularly when pointing out legal or procedural realities to his detractors. Each time, the pattern is identical: coherence over noise, logic over theatrics.

This contrast compelled me to pause and interrogate the complexity of his public character. The sharpness of his written and verbal technical arguments often sits uneasily alongside the flamboyant, highly visible persona that dominates social media. At face value, the two seem incompatible.

However, reducing Wicknell Chivayo to a caricature of wealth and spectacle is a mistake. When you strip away the deliberate theatrics, a much more complex, intellectually grounded operator comes into focus - one who understands procurement law, project finance, and the mechanics of large-scale infrastructure far better than his loudest critics are willing to admit.

His business engagements consistently reveal a high-level fluency in how serious projects function. He speaks the language of consortium structures, OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) credibility, bankability thresholds, and financial closure. This is not street-level dealmaking; it is institutional-grade commerce.

This competence was perhaps most visibly tested during the Gwanda Solar Project saga. While accusations of fraud were made loudly in the court of public opinion, the outcome in the actual courts told a different story. He prevailed because courts deal in evidence, not sentiment.

A similar discipline emerged in his past exchanges with figures like Fadzayi Mahere. His responses were never improvised; they were technically coherent and legally structured. Whether one agrees with his politics or not, the calibre of his argument was undeniable.

Beyond technical acumen, there is the undeniable question of access. You do not meaningfully engage with sitting Heads of State - figures such as President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President Samia Suluhu Hassan, or President William Ruto - by accident. These are unforgiving spaces that reward utility, competence, and trust. An “average joe” does not survive there, let alone thrive. The fact that Chivayo navigates these corridors suggests a utility that his critics often overlook.

His consistent alignment with ZANUPF appears less ideological posturing than a calculated reading of power, policy continuity, and where long-horizon national projects are realistically conceived and executed. Indeed, identifying and aligning with the true center of gravity in national politics is perhaps the sharpest indicator of his pragmatic intelligence.

And yet, the confusion persists. The flashiness of his private life distracts from the precision of his business thinking. Journalists, lawyers, and associates who know him personally consistently caution against mistaking the persona for the person. Off-camera, they describe someone who is patient, courteous, deeply religious, and measured.

This brings us to the final irony. The boisterous public image appears to be intentional - a form of personal entertainment, or perhaps even strategic noise designed to keep observers looking at the show rather than the substance. The real Wicknell Chivayo is revealed less in the drama and more in the court outcomes, the structured arguments, and the quietly sophisticated business decisions.

The mask is loud. The mind behind it is not.

Today was yet another PLEASANT occasion as I had the opportunity to pay a COURTESY visit on His Excellency, PRESIDENT WILLIAM SAMOEI RUTO together with his Deputy President Hon Prof Kithure Kindiki ,at the STATE LODGE – MOUNT KENYA 🇰🇪. I was warmly received as usual, and I took time to extend my deepest GRATITUDE for the past year, while also wishing His Excellency a blessed and prosperous NEW YEAR. It is always refreshing and deeply INSPIRING to be in the presence of such a HUMBLE and faith-driven leader whose VISION for a modern Kenya is undeniably REMARKABLE. I wished the President, the First LADY and the First FAMILY good HEALTH, divine strength and BARAKA NYINGI 🙏🏾 in 2026 and beyond.

As Kenya enters 2026, I am excited by the President’s CLEAR focus on delivering key NATIONAL PROGRAMMES meant to uplift ordinary citizens and accelerate economic TRANSFORMATION . In our wide ranging conversation, H. E reaffirmed that under his Kenya KWANZA Administration, the Government remains firmly committed to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda prioritising food SECURITY, affordable HOUSING, universal HEALTHCARE, infrastructure EXPANSION, digital TRANSFORMATION and job creation for the YOUTH. Yesterday I joined my FAMILY to celebrate the 5th year MEMORIAL of my late mother. Since her passing in 2021, it has arguably been the most DIFFICULT period of my life. The deep emotional WOUND has never healed and the gap you left is IMPOSSIBLE to fill. There is NOTHING in this world as priceless as a MOTHER’S LOVE, and each year it remains so painful to accept that you are no longer with us 💔. I always take time to REFLECT on how you stood strong for your children after my father tragically passed away in an accident in 1990 which completely changed our lives. You NEVER lost your FAITH and you continued to sacrifice yourself day and night, always assuring us that with PRAYER we would overcome our tribulations 🙏🏼.

The MEMORIES remain vivid of how you used to cross the border to S.A kunotengesa MADHOIRI just so that we could live a decent life. Growing up, it was always my greatest PRAYER that if God ever BLESSED me to become successful, I would make you the PROUDEST MOTHER on earth, because you taught me the PUREST form of unconditional love. It remains my greatest HEARTBREAK 💔 and sorrow that today, the best I can do is to celebrate you in MEMORY, and pray that God grants you the PEACE that you always prayed for together with your fellow parishioners at St Gerard’s Cathedral Church.

During the precious time which the Lord allowed us together, you taught us to WORK HARD, to love one another, to PRAY without ceasing and to always remember where we came from as our UNITY and HISTORY make us better people. You taught me DISCIPLINE and FAITH, and you always reminded me of what my late father hoped I would become when I grow up. I wish you were here today to witness how everything you taught me has shaped me into the MAN that I am, because I AM WHO I AM today, BECAUSE OF YOU. Yesterday we visited your new home in honour, celebrating the LIFE and BLESSING that you were amongst us, and in deep pain I relived your SOFT‑SPOKEN words and your CONTAGIOUS SMILE that always gave us HOPE for a brighter future.

On this special occasion that we celebrated the LIFE of my beloved late mother, CANISIA CHIVAYO, I am reminded of how deeply she LOVED her Church, and how fully the Church recognized her dedication to the Catholic faith. I remember how PASSIONATELY she spoke about projects to make the Church self‑sustainable so that it can fund its ECUMENICAL programs, CHARITY works and spread the GOSPEL to all corners of the world. In honor of her devotion, I humbly extend a heartfelt donation of a BRAND‑NEW 2026 TOYOTA HILUX double cab valued at US$75,000 to the Church’s Head Priest FATHER BUSHU, together with a small CASH DONATION of US$250,000 which i went and personally deposited into the church account towards the implementation of these outstanding projects. I am honored the Church leadership accepted this humble gesture as my small way of appreciating the ROLE the Church played in strengthening my Mother’s FAITH and supporting our family during the painful period when we lost her.

My eyes are still filled with tears😭, but my heart is COMFORTED by the Holy Spirit that we shall one day meet again in the GLORY of our Lord Jesus Christ.

This morning, I had the absolute PLEASURE and HONOUR of driving to Zvishavane to pay a COURTESY visit on the President, His Excellency Cde. Dr. E.D. MNANGAGWA 🇿🇼, at his rural home while he enjoys his annual official leave. On this very special occasion of New Year’s Day, I extended my PROFOUND congratulations to His Excellency for yet another YEAR of leading our great Nation. His Excellency remains deeply THANKFUL to the Almighty God 🙏🏽 for the GIFT OF LIFE and for the continued GRACE to steer Zimbabwe forward. As always, he expressed IMMENSE optimism for 2026 as we commence the SECOND PHASE of the National Development Strategy (NDS2), which is key to advancing our IRREVERSIBLE march towards VISION 2030.

Despite being officially on leave, I found it very INSPIRING to witness that His Excellency remains FULLY COMMITTED to the service of the people. He is a TRUE SERVANT LEADER who is ALWAYS on duty 24/7. During the short time I spent with him, he was surrounded by multitudes of local elders, traditional leaders and ORDINARY villagers from MAPANZURE village. He is truly a PRESIDENT FOR the people, FROM the people and BY the people. He understands that REAL LEADERSHIP means SERVICE and that POLITICAL AUTHORITY derives from the PEOPLE !!!!

His Excellency reflected with a SHARP MEMORY his MILITARY training, the interesting encounters during the liberation struggle and PASSIONATELY narrated the successful military intelligence operations of the CROCODILE 🐊 GANG. More importantly, he reiterated the FULL CAPACITY which we have as Zimbabweans to develop the Country by OURSELVES and that our future lies in our own hands. NYIKA INOVAKWA, IGOTONGWA, IGONAMATIRWA NEVENE VAYO, Brick Upon Brick 🧱 and Stone Upon Stone.

It was truly an HONOUR to spend time with such a DISTINGUISHED LEADER whose wisdom continues to shape our national destiny. WE LIVE TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY...💪💪💪

For many Zimbabweans, it may be a DISAPPOINTING END for the Warriors at the AFCON. However, I personally take pride in the FIGHTING SPIRIT they showed from the beginning right until the FINAL whistle. Their NARROW 3–2 defeat to South Africa certainly left many discouraged, but I choose to look at things differently. We all WIN in our DIFFERENT and DISTINCT WAYS, and certainly reaching this stage where you compete with the BEST is, in my humble OPINION, in itself a WIN for Zimbabwe. Where others see a loss, I see BRAVERY and EFFORT, which I believe must be given appropriate RECOGNITION...

Vakuru vakati YATSIKA YANWA….and for that reason, i APPRECIATE the effort and GROWTH this team demonstrated throughout the tournament, no matter how short it may have been. Even without bringing the TROPHY 🏆 home, we must CELEBRATE OUR OWN, honour those few goals we scored and appreciate the PRIDE brought to every Zimbabwean supporter of the WARRIORS. Such is life. Sometimes you WIN, sometimes you LEARN !!!

I had PLEDGED that if the Warriors win the AFCON CUP 🏆, I would definitely give them US$2 MILLION in cash on arrival. However, all hope is not lost.
