I can only speak for my habits, but prior to PlayStation's decision I was buying physical and digital on PS.

Now I refuse to buy digital on PS. Developers will only get a physical sale, so if their game comes out after 2028 I'll never buy it on PS.

Now the fight for a better gaming world continues. And we need to stand united!

PlayStation's plans set a dangerous precedent. If they go all-digital, others will follow. This will affect us all, regardless of whether you earn a living with games or just play them. Regardless of where you play or how you purchase your games.

You will lose the only form of ownership on console. The only legal form of preservation. Trade conventions/fairs will eventually die. Retailers will lose sales and close. Developers lose additional revenue and discoverability. Without physical and second hand price competition dwindles. Price hikes and fewer sales will be the new norm, pricing some people out of the hobby entirely.

And what you will pay exorbitant sums for, is not even yours to keep. Without customer protection laws everything you buy can be stripped from you at a whim. As you can witness today when over 500 Studio Canal movies get erased from people's libraries without any repercussions. What do you think happens to Wolverine when Sony and Marvel eventually part ways?

That is why we need to fight two battles at once!

We need to protect physical games as an option. For preservation, for the experience, for a healthy market, and to keep our hands on what we bought.

We need to push for better customer rights in the digital space. Actual ownership & end-of-life plans, so games don't just disappear, when a publisher ends support.

Support us! Support initiatives like Stop Killing Games! Speak to your local customer protection agencies and local politicians tasked with taking care of these topics!

Continue to make your voices heard online. The minimum requirement for the blackout has been reached. But many continue to do it. Others did their part and return to play for now. Regardless of which you are, there will be more chances in the future to take action again. Thank you all once more for standing up together. Let's continue to raise awareness and get more people on board!

I figured I’d keep my PS5, keep it offline, only buy used games that play 100% offline and just call it a day. Never buy anything @Playstation again.

But now, it may be time to just sell all of it and put it toward a PC. It’s a shame because I like the console but @Sony has gone off the rails. Insanity.

Sony told a court that no reasonable person could think they own a digital game they paid $70 for.

Their argument? If you actually owned Resident Evil Requiem, the next guy couldn’t buy it, because you’d already “possess” it.

That’s one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard.

That’s not how movies work. That’s not how video games have ever worked. Two people can buy the same product. Owning your copy does not mean you own the entire damn game.

You hit Buy. You paid full price. And they’re in court arguing it was always a license they can revoke whenever the fuck they want.

🚨 I’M DONE ASKING SONY NICELY. BOYCOTT PLAYSTATION.

For decades I’ve bought movies on physical discs. I paid for the movie, took the disc home, put it on my shelf and watched it when I wanted. Nobody needed to explain to me that I had purchased something.

Now Sony wants to play word games with “buy.”

You click BUY. You click CONFIRM PURCHASE. Money leaves your account.

But according to Sony’s own terms, you didn’t actually buy the game. You bought a license.

And now Sony is arguing in federal court that “reasonable consumers” understand the difference.

Really? " Reasonable Customers?"

Explain that to an 11-year-old who saved his birthday money, opened the PlayStation Store, saw the word BUY and thought he was buying a game.

That kid isn’t thinking about licensing agreements, revocable access or corporate attorneys parsing the definition of ownership.

He thinks BUY means BUY. It DOES NOT SAY " RENT!" You greedy fu#ks!

And that's exactly my problem with Sony.

They want to sell the console, control the storefront, and control the digital distribution. They want the subscription revenue. They want you to pay!

They want to be the tree, the fruit AND the roots.

Then there’s the separate PlayStation antitrust settlement in California: $7.85 million covering roughly 4.4 million eligible PSN accounts. And if your PSN account is active, how are they proposing to compensate you?

PLAYSTATION WALLET CREDIT.

Think about that. Let that sink in!

The settlement is supposed to compensate consumers over allegations involving Sony’s digital marketplace, yet for active customers the compensation goes right back into Sony’s digital marketplace.

You don’t have to hate PlayStation to see why that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I’ve made my decision.

I left PlayStation, and Sony will not receive another cent from me unless its business practices change.

And I think gamers who feel the same way should stop complaining for a weekend and do something Sony actually understands:

STOP SPENDING MONEY. NOT ANOTHER DIME!

No PlayStation Plus renewal.
No PS Store purchases.
No new console.
No accessories.
No preorders.

Boycott PlayStation indefinitely until Sony gives its customers a meaningful answer on ownership, physical media, digital licenses and the future of the games we paid for.

And before somebody tells me GTA VI will save everything-GTA will sell an unbelievable number of copies. Of course it will.

But GTA is a game, not a business model.

Then gamers are still left with the same questions about what they own, what Sony controls and what happens to their libraries in the increasingly digital PlayStation ecosystem.

Meanwhile Microsoft and Xbox are at least extending an olive branch toward physical owners with Disc-to-Digital.

Sony could do the same. But they suffer from terminal greed!

They simply have to decide that keeping the trust of their customers matters as much as the money they can squeeze from them.

Until then? My wallet is closed.

This reasonable consumer understands exactly where his money is going.

What does a digital-only future mean?

❌No ownership
❌Sony’s terrible refund policy
❌Games tied to one account
❌Bad customer support for account issues
❌Games may rely on network & internet
❌No trading or second hand
❌No competition > higher prices
❌No preservation for games
❌64% of countries losing access to games since they have no dedicated PlayStation Store

We aren’t just asking for something nostalgic, but rather keeping balance in the gaming world and giving players options, because ending physical games negatively impact digital gamers too.
