@AlexBThomson @TheLancetPsych @drdavidveale@ProfPaulGilbert People would be safer if patients were properly supported when they try to raise concerns. Coercive control is illegal in domestic situation and I don't see why it's OK in psychiatric field. Sweeping stuff under carpet serves no-one's interests. It ruins lives.
Im very low energy and low at the moment so will take a break from twitter as there is so much offensive and cruel gaslighting content on here. I did what I did and tweeted what I did to try to help others, not to harm, nor for any sense of vengeance.
@DrElleMorris@russtaylor56@drjanaway@ReadReadj I wasn't suicidal before. It's a very strong firm of control and it takes away ability to feel feelings. It's also unsafe to speak about it. I firmly believe it should only be sham ect that is given. Brain Surgery where you know what you're doing would be safer (my opinion)
@DrElleMorris@russtaylor56@drjanaway@ReadReadj There are people who tell me it saved my life. It didn't. Antibiotics and fluid therapy did. I found having confirmation from a psychiatrist it had probably made everything worse built some trust. I don't really want to live anymore though
@DrElleMorris@russtaylor56@drjanaway@ReadReadj I don't believe ect has side effects, it has effects. It's an electrical injury. Whether you see those effects as beneficial or otherwise is the difference between those who say it helped and those who would rather die than re experience it. For me it was life changing injury.
@DrElleMorris@russtaylor56@drjanaway@ReadReadj Im basing it on conversations had with a psychiatrist who has had it, who had a more balanced view and was able to understand the effects, some would say side effects. Despite my best efforts words fail to get across what it's effects are.
This sort of misinformation is very destructive. It can bring up suicidal ideation when survivors of traumas, rรขpรฉ or otherwise have their lived experience invalidated. We should take care that what we say, 'furst dies no harm'. Words matter!
@Wigglyworm8@russtaylor56@drjanaway@ReadReadj Don't be daft. ECT is absolutely a last line resort that individuals have to still be giving informed consent for. Often they're choosing between that and imminent death by suicide
@ReadReadj@ClinpsychLucy@peterkinderman@JDaviesPhD@Altostrata@MITUKteam@Mad_In_America @MarnieWedlake @jf_moore The reason she bullied me was because I was speaking with someone she didn't want me to be speaking to. I never found out why, because she didn't say. Instead she made up stuff and said I'd left her twitter group because I'd got angry.
@ds_psych@russtaylor56@drjanaway@ReadReadj I'm not being daft. U r deluded if you believe what you've written. Consent should be there and should be informed. Psych don't 'understand' ect. Takes low mood and good mood too, takes all 'mood' really and brain damages... Truth. Not respected when u share.
@AndreaB63735256 @evesdaughter14 @drjanaway@ReadReadj There are some good ethical psychiatrists and psychologists but few and far between. I'm feeling often the cures are worse than the original condition.
@russtaylor56@drjanaway@ReadReadj My argument fรผr ECT, the "safe" mood enhancing life saving treatment. Don't notice many doctors volunteering for it so they can explain its effects fully which they would if they truly believed it safe.
@drjanaway@ReadReadj Rubbish, lived experience would say cognitive dissonance is there and withdrawing from drugs doesn't even fully reverse effects as anyone who's had dopamine affecting drugs knows
@bbc someone on air who claims she respects religions and others belief has just said Jesus is just a prophet, how would she not understand this is disrespectful. Why is her view the only view. Is intolerance the Muslim creed, or just hers?
@PaulaMc007 Spine tingling worldservice programme at mo, a rugby player called Abbi, she survived but again misdiagnosed originally, don't assume it's mental health she says
@vetmindmatters very disappointed with recent course I half attended and where I was excluded and left in zoom waiting room for final half hour of session. Phone had run out of battery and when I plugged in and recharged wasn't let back. No explanation. No apology. Uncivil!
@PaulaMc007 My phone died and I had to plug in and this was communicated while I was attempting to answer a question within the group, so said I'd have to go plug my phone in. I did. No apology/explanation of why effectively I was excluded. Presumably the leader hadn't liked my answer?
@PaulaMc007 Last couple of days I've felt I wished they had killed me instead of half killing me. Latest upsetting thing that happened to me was being left in a zoom waiting room in paid for zoom webinar that was meant to help up skill dealing with incivility.
