110 years ago this evening 6 Dec 1915 1st Cheshires raided Mametz West Craters Somme. The enterprise was regarded as an example of best practice. 3 officers & 50 ORs bombed along trenches to the German support line capturing 1 prisoner & inflicted many casualties.

Thursday 8th May 2025 a burial service took place for Private John Tame – 12793. 2nd Bn. Royal Berkshire Regiment. Died 16 August 1917 Age 22. Now resting @CWGC#NewIrishFarmCemetery, Belgium.
Remembering today my Grt uncle Cpl H J Bannister 2nd Ox and Bucks airborne light infantry 6th airborne division KIA 24/3/45 on Operation Varsity - the Rhine crossing. Lest we forget.
