electric toothbrushes were originally made for people with disabilities but now everyone uses them. the same with velcro, & even curb cuts, which were designed for wheelchair users, but now useful to cyclists & pram-pushing mothers. rights for a subgroup can end up benefiting all
I feel like when I say I'm anti-death penalty, ppl assume I don't think anyone deserves to die. This is false. There are absolutely ppl who deserve death. I simply don't think any government can be trusted with the right to kill.
This is exactly what it’s like to be a woman in public.
Men will touch you without consent.
They will grope you.
They will leer and cat call.
They will treat you like property.
If they do it to another man? It’s an instant apology.
So why is it ok to do it to us?
