Last week, we took a special field trip! We were able to walk our 5th graders to the middle school! The kids got to meet teachers, tour the campus, and get a feel for what it will be like next year! I love their excitement! ❤️#ilovemystudents#iteach5th@AlachuaSchools
Since February 1 is on a Saturday, we started off Black History Month a day early! I love teaching my students about the amazing men and women who made such a significant impact on how we live today! ❤️

Kirk Tapley of Howard Bishop Middle School is the 2020 Alachua County Teacher of the Year! Congratulations to Mr Tapley, his fellow finalists Josh Forgione and Kasey Norris and all our honorees!
Two thumbs up for these dry erase paddle boards! Students found the volume of rectangular prisms using unit cubes and wrote the volume on their board. I got to quickly assess who got it, and the kids thought it was great! #teacherwin#iteachfifth@AlachuaSchools
We had the best time creating clouds out of shaving cream! Ss had to tell what what part of the atmosphere they were in, what type of weather they helped predict, and we also added -nimbo and -alto to them and discussed how that changed the cloud! @AlachuaSchools
I gave the students 15 minutes to come up with a skit of the water cycle. This little narrator did a great job explaining the water cycle! 👌🏼😉#iteachfifth#ilovemystudents@AlachuaSchools
Ss had to find their topic matches and then decide who was the main idea and who were the supporting details! The main idea had to sit on the table and we determined whether the details supported them or let them fall! #mainidea@AlachuaSchools

How can you not miss these kids? I was out Monday and came back to this❤️❤️❤️ Toughest, but most rewarding job in the world! I love my students! #iteachfifth#whileiwasout
One math strategy that usually helps is color coding! I usually teach it a certain way, but allow the kids to organize their colors in a way that makes sense to them! Just another way to see their thinking! #colorcodingmath@AlachuaSchools
Find your math grade! One student got an equation, one got a product. One had to round to find their estimated product, and the other student had to find possible factors that if rounded, would equal their product! I love when they explain their thinking! @AlachuaSchools
